You walked into Nozu and saw Robbie sitting at the counter. You noticed he was alone.
"Hey Robbie! Where is everyone?" You asked.
"Oh hey y/n! Actually nobody else could make it. Something about Tori needing last minute help on a project."
"I hope you didn't skip out on helping Tori just to meet me here" you said shyly as you took your seat beside him.
"Are you kidding? I'd never flake on you after we made plans. Plus, Tori has everyone else helping her anyway." Robbie replied with a shrug.
A waiter walked up to you and started taking your orders. Robbie ordered a California roll and you ordered a miso soup.
"Don't tell me you don't like sushi" Robbie said with a smirk.
"It's not that I don't like it, I just haven't tried any before." You replied, feeling a bit uncultured.
"You have to try a piece its really good!" Robbie said playfully. "And if you don't like it, this meal is on me."
You agreed, and decided to change the subject as you waited for your food.
"So, you didn't bring Rex?" You couldn't help but asking out of curiosity.
"We got in kind of a big fight actually." Robbie said, looking visibly distraught.
You remembered the exchange between them earlier during school, about Robbie canceling plans with Rex to hang out with you.
"It wasn't my fault, was it?" You asked.
"No, no" Robbie started, "its just, he isn't used to me hanging out with another person this much. It's nothing personal, I promise."
Your food arriving to your table interrupted the conversation you were having about Rex. After most of your meal was finished Robbie plucked a piece of sushi off of his plate with chopsticks and waved it in front of you.
"Ready to try a piece of sushi?" He asked.
"Ok, I'll try it" you gave in.
"Alright show me those chompers" he said as he brought the sushi towards your mouth.
You laughed and then ate it off the chopsticks. It was surprisingly good.
"Wow, this is actually really good!" You said with a mouth still full of sushi.
"Well, even though you do like the sushi, I'll still pay for your meal." He replied smiling.
"No you really don't have to!" You said.
"I insist! It's the least I could do after you killed it in that scene earlier. I mean, you're the reason I got an A on that assignment."
You blushed at the compliment and let him pay for your food. As you were leaving Nozu, Robbie pulled out his pear phone.
"Shoot! My grandma can't pick me up." He said with a slight frown.
"I can drive you home" you said gently punching him on the arm.
"Really? You'd do that?" Robbie asked surprised.
"Yeah I insist" you said quoting him, "its the least I could do after you paid for my food."
He smiled as you both got into your car and headed to Robbie's house.
