I blink my eyes open, waking up to the smell of fresh caught prey.
A big, juicy rabbit lays dead in front of Roseycheek and I, behind it stands Tigerfur, looking anxious.
"I-I'm really sorry for the way I acted yesterday. I shouldn't have left you two especially the way I did." She apologizes, sounding and looking guilty.
"It's alright. I understand why you left. It's just a really tough time." I say with understanding.
I had thought about it last night and I came to to conclusion that she left because she wants to get us out and avoid getting caught in King Snowfur's trap.
"Anyways, I brought this for you and Roseycheek." Tigerfur nudges the rabbit closer to Roseycheek and I, inviting us to take it.
"Thank you." I start prodding at Roseycheek, trying to wake her up.
After a couple heartbeats, her eyes slowly blink open. "Huh?"
"I brought a rabbit for you and Starfur." Tigerfur tells her, leaning down and nudging the rabbit again.
"Oh... thanks." She pushes herself up to sit and I do the same.
Roseycheek ravenously takes her first bite into the rabbit.
Before I even have a chance to take a bite, Tigerfur starts shuffling uncomfortably. "I'm just going to leave you two be."
"Yeah, it's kinda weird having you watching us eat." Roseycheek points out after swallowing her bite.
"Sorry!" She quickly leaves our cave and goes off to do something.
"You seem to be trusting her a lot." Roseycheek suddenly says after Tigerfur is out of earshot.
"Yeah. I figured out why she left us."
"Why did she leave us?"
"She left us because she actually wants us to escape. She was upset that we weren't listening to her about escaping right away and she's scared for us." I explain the best I can. I take a bite, now just realizing how hungry I am.
"Now I understand. Sometimes I get like that."
We continue to eat the rabbit, not realizing how hungry we are.
I gulp down my last bite, turning to Roseycheek who has already finished. "Should we offer to go on a hunting patrol? It'll help with the plan."
"If it helps with the plan, why not? I just want to get out of here." Roseycheek answers nonchalantly.
I bring myself up to my paws and stretch out my stiff legs. "Alright. Let's go out and try to join a patrol."
Roseycheek stands up a moment later, also stiff from laying down for so long.
We walk out of the cave, side by side, and search for the wolf organizing the patrols.
I heard that they don't have a beta because King Snowfur likes to have complete power over the pack. I'd say that's quite narcissistic if you ask me.
I spot a white wolf with black swirls ordering wolves around in the middle of the clearing, his voice loud and clear. I beckon to Roseycheek to follow me and we walk up to him.
"Um... excuse me?" I say trying to get his attention as we approach him.
"You two can wait until I'm done with the rest of the pack." He replies, not even giving Roseycheek or I a glance. He continues organizing the patrols as if we don't exist.
