Teddy stepped off the train and scanned the bustling crowd in front of him. He spotted Harry and James off to the side, his grandmother and Lily on a bench against the far wall, and the beautiful Victoire only a few steps in front of them, her back to him talking to her younger brother, Louis.
This year would be Louis’ first year at Hogwarts too. He and James had spent a good majority of their time this summer wondering what the school year would hold. Teddy could understand why. Just before he started school he was frantic with questions. He wanted to know what house he would be sorted into and who would be in his house with him. He wondered if there was even a chance that Aiden and Ethan could be in the same house as him. Would they stay friends? Would they make more friends? Would they make enemies? Who would be their professors? How would they do in classes? Would they be able to play Quidditch? Would they make the team? Teddy smiled as he drew closer and eavesdropped on their conversation.
“I’m so worried. What if I trip and I make a fool of myself?”
Victoire shook her blonde head reassuringly. “You’ll be with James. And I’ll be at the Hufflepuff table watching eagerly. If you need a smile of encouragement just peak back at me, and I’ll be waiting.”
Louis nodded, seemingly pleased with this answer, and turned to walk towards his parents at the other end of the platform. Teddy stepped forward and covered Victoire’s eyes with his hands. Her sweet laugh filled the space around him as she raised her hands and placed them delicately on top of Teddy’s. Goosebumps ran down his spine and his heart rate picked up, pounding loudly and out of control against his chest.
“Hello.” Teddy crooned into her ear. He felt her cheeks heat up beneath his touch.
“Hi.” Victoire whispered back. Teddy lowered his hands and she spun around to face him. “Di-Did you find a compartment?” She stuttered. Teddy fought back a smile. He loved knowing that he had the same effect on her as she clearly did on him.
“I did. Second from the back, on the right. Aiden and Ethan should already be back there.” Teddy nodded in the direction.
“Great.” Victoire turned and signaled for Louis. He gave both of his parents big hugs before running back in their direction. Victoire took a few steps toward the train and turned to realize that Teddy didn’t follow. “Aren’t you coming?”
“I’ve got to grab James. He’s a bit nervous for his first day and all.”
“Right.” Victoire smiled. “I’ll see you back there.” She waved a little and walked off in the direction of the compartment.
Teddy turned to where he had seen James and Harry before and found them standing by the barrier.
“I just want to be in Gryffindor so badly.” James whispered, looking as though he were on the verge of tears.
“Your mother and I are going to be proud of you no matter what house you are sorted in.”
“Besides,” Teddy interjected. “Hufflepuff is the coolest house anyway.” James smiled up at him, but did not appear too comforted by the comment.
