“Teddy, may I see you for a moment?” Harry stood at the base of the stairs, looking down at his god son and his children playing together. Teddy looked up and nodded. He lifted Lily off of his lap and set her gently on the floor to continue playing snapdragons with her brothers.
“Is everything alright?”
“Everything is fine,” Harry responded leading him up the stairs. “I have some things I would like to give you.”
They walked into Harry and Ginny’s bedroom. The room was big and full of light, the drapes were pulled back exposing the large window. Harry led Teddy down around the bed to the side that he was sure belonged to Harry. Teddy eyes followed the wall and fixated on the arrangement of pictures.
On the wall above his nightstand there was a picture of James and Lily, Harry’s parents laughing and holding each other, smiling big for the camera. Next to that was a picture of Harry and his own godfather, Sirius Black, taken sometime when Harry was around his age. Then there was a photograph of him and Ginny, and one of their little family. Next to that was a picture of Ron and Hermione, and their children, and then in the corner, was a copy of one of the only photographs that Teddy had of him and his parents. He couldn’t take his eyes off of the photo, even though he had seen it a million times, and even carried a photo of it around to most places he went. He loved looking at it. He was only a few days old and his bright blue hair contrasted that of his mother’s brilliant violet. His mother was beautiful and small, her big smile illuminating her joy. On the other side of him was his father, with a big smile on his face as he glanced from his mother, to him, to back to the camera.
Harry knelt beside a large trunk that sat in the corner of his room and opened it up. Teddy realized almost immediately that it was probably his own school trunk that he had kept and now used to fill with mementos. Harry dug through it, setting aside what Teddy recognized as his children’s baby blankets, the vest and tie that he had worn at his wedding, and a ridiculous top hat that he had worn to Ron’s. Then Harry pulled out a folded up piece of parchment and an old worn out looking cloak.
“Now, neither of these are for you to keep. They’re both very old, and need to treated with care.” Harry said speaking softly and slowly to emphasize his point. “I made the decision long ago that I would allow each of you to use them during your seventh year, and once you had shown dedication to your school work, and your relationships with your friends. I feel that you have met these expectations and therefore, I am leaving them in your possession until the start of the next school year in September.”
“What are they?” Teddy asked. Harry held them out for him to examine further. He picked up the parchment and unfolded it. The parchment was blank. He picked up the cloak and looked over it. “Can I try it on?” Harry nodded at him and Teddy stood up, unwrapping the cloak and slinging it over his shoulders before even bothering to look down.
“Looks good.” Harry laughed. Teddy looked down to assess his appearance and was absolutely astonished when he discovered that his body was no longer there.
“Bloody hell!” He shouted as he turned around a few times testing to see whether the rest of his body would reappear. “Is this?”
Harry nodded. “It was my fathers. It’s a real invisibility cloak.”
