"What the fak does THAT mean???"Peter thought as he gazed at the god. He had just claimed to also believe he was dead...how does that happen?
Peter just kind of existed there by Loki's side. He clearly didn't like his being there but there was nothing Peter could do about that. He questioned if he should ask him what he meant by that, he told himself not to but the curiosity was killing him. "W-what do you mean?"
He rolled his eyes and attempted to clear his throat. "A mortal like you wouldn't understand, besides you kidnaped me." Peter looked at him defensively. "W-well if I did I didn't take you the avengers would have found you and w-who knows what w-would happen then."
Loki huffed. "Yeah right, so you "saved" me." Peter nodded.
"Fool"
Peter looked at him perplexed.
"You should have turned me in, you would be a hero."
"But I- but I already am a hero, plus I-I saved you."
Loki stayed silent.
No words were told after that. As time accumulated deeper into the night so did peters tiredness. He was exhausted but kept himself up, he would need to renew Loki's webs every now and then and as he couldn't hold in his yawns or eye rubs Loki smiled with a plan hidden in his mischievous eyes.
"Your tired."
Peter practically flew into the walls at the abrupt noise of Loki's disfigured voice.
"What? O-oh y-yah kinda" he yawned right after. "You can sleep you know, I won't go anywhere." Peter shook his head but he spoke again. "If you don't sleep now how do you expect to tend to me when the sun shines?" He thought for a moment, Loki had a point-a good one too- but he couldn't. "I see you thinking about it. Don't. You'll end up overthinking it. Next thing you'll know it's morning, I'll need new webs but you? You'll be passed out asleep for me to leave with nothing stopping me."
Now that was a really good point. But he couldn't, not until he was sure Loki wouldn't move. So he just sat and requested Kerin to blow a horn in his speakers if he fell asleep. Loki proceeded to try and get him to sleep, so much so Peter could hear the desperation in his voice. At that moment he knew Loki was trying to trick him. He was going to tell Loki to stop trying but when he opened his mouth to speak, Loki's face showed fear. Peter put himself in his shoes, taking in what he had said earlier.
"Me to...I'm not sure what happened.'
Peter visualized dying by strangulation-that what he worked out happened to Loki, he could plainly see the marks of a hand much bigger than his on Lokis throat..it reminded him of Thanos.- He imagined dying and waking up in an alleyway in another world to have someone find him and pass out, then be held in a shed against his will. Peter didn't like that, if it were him he would try to escape. What Loki had been trying to do without moving.
"Mister Loki I won't hurt you."
"Yah right." There it was, Loki thought peter would hurt him, kill him even. He thought the worst.
"Mister Loki I mean it, I'm trying to keep you safe, heck I'm even keeping you from Mister Stark. I go to him for everything."
"Your not stuttering anymore."
Peter looked at him, he hadn't noticed. "Oh uh y-yah." Loki rolled his eyes. "Never mind."
He looked down in shame. He used to not have a stutter, it's not like he could control it. It just happens when he gets nervous and ESPECIALLY when he's scared. He says he developed it when returning but he thinks it was all the shock of returning and then the immediate war not giving him a chance to process anything. Too many emotions at once mixed with the fear of the war and the many near-death experiences from it. That's what he really thinks caused it. But to sum it up...he got it from returning after the snap. It also affects his ability to fight crime. Every time he tried to catch a bad guy the slight fear of the fight would make him stutter. Making his comebacks and remarks something for the criminals to laugh at. Sure they were supposed to be funny but it wasn't the comments they laughed at, it was Spider-Man they laughed at.
He asked Bruse and Dr. Strange thousands of times to help him but there was nothing they could do. They just kept saying.
"It's PTSD from being blipped, everyone you know that hasn't aged has been through it. No one will laugh, I'm sure your not the only one."
But they all laugh and he IS the only one-given that he's never told anyone why he actually thinks he has it(not everyone actually fought in the war), he just says he got it after coming back. Well if he was being honest no one made fun of him AT FIRST, everyone took it seriously and respected him. But then Flash began to and with his given status, everyone began to. Sometimes he wished he never blipped so he could out of peter's life or that he just never came back from the blip. Peter also hates the word Blip. It's as if the people that didn't perish were having fun making it like this was something to be joked about.
"You seem to be lost in deep thought."
Peter shrugged and began feeling his eyes water, he thanked God he was wearing a mask. He didn't plan on telling Loki. Until Peter remembered something, he needed Loki to trust him. Even if it's just a little bit, he needed him to trust him. Maybe then will he stay without Peter having to fear of him escaping when he goes to school or home or even with Mister Stark.
"I-I don't mean to." He started. "After..after the uh-after the snap when I c-came back I was told t-that I had- that I had been dead for 5 years."
Loki stared at him, deeply interested in what he was saying. "Without-without time to pr-process anything I was-I was put to war-glad to of c-course-but to s-sudden."
"I w-went though m-many of n-n-near death-near death experiences and put through the pressure to protect the gauntlet from T-T-Thanos."
As Peter spoke he kept his head down, ashamed, but as he said the name Thanos he could see from the corner of his eyes Loki flinch at the name alone.
"I guess all those.......I Uh I guess all those emotions at once m-made me stutter when I'm scared or nervous..."
"There's no need to be nervous now. I won't harm you-can't anyways- I'm tied up and even so, I can't move let alone talk normally."
Peter looked up at Loki shocked that he had said this, that he had comforted him. Maybe he wasn't so bad, maybe behind all those tricks and evils smirks, there's a man with a heart ready to share with the world. Peter smiled.
"Thank you, that's comforting...I guess it also had to do with being so young as Mister Stark says. I'm only 16 years old.""WHAT!" Loki screamed then coughed in pain forgetting that he couldn't physically speak higher than a bad whisperer.
"Here!" Peter held the water to his mouth, he scoffed and drank it. "I'm not a baby." He mumbled.
"They must be desperate to bring children into the job!" He hissed the sound of a snakes hiss could be heard in it, Peter shivered. "Well yeah but it's ok I can take care of myself."
Loki shook his head. "I can't believe it, to think that Stark would be so hopeless as to get a child on the team. What? Has everyone else-" he stopped. His eyes widening and he shut his mouth.
"Mister Loki are you okay?" Peter asked placing a hand on his shoulder. He tried to nod yes but his neck wouldn't allow suck movements so he simply hummed an unsettling yes.
Peter knew there was something- no maybe multiple things he left unsaid. The only thing was that he seemed to really want to say it.
