The week I had left had crumbled down to only three days. Most of that time was spent getting things ready for Tara's birthday party. Well, that's what my body had been doing. My mind, however, was still wrapped around having to leave the my 'family' on Wednesday. Again. The day after I told Emily about what happened, she called Social Services to find out a bit more. The guy who call was the one who was going to be dispatched that day to get me. The place said all that I really needed was a couple sets of clothes, shoes, and a few keepsakes if I wanted. they also promised I'd have a roommate. She was supposed to be around my age, so we should get along okay. After telling me this she went out to buy me a camera and some picture frames to fill. I said thanks, but stashed them away in the back of my closet. So far, she hasn't said anything about it. I'd been having a real hard time keeping my sanity at the time.

"Mirabelle!" Emily called door the stairwell, jerking me from my zombie-like trance. I grabbed the tissue box from my nightstand and pulled out a few Klenexes. The tears had been coming everytime i was alone for long periods of time. My mind was given waaay too much time to wander and think. Let's just say things aren't going as well as they were a few days ago. My feet carried me up the steps to the kitchen where Emily was standing, holding her jacket and mine. "We're going to go shopping to find Tara's present, so I need you to go get dressed."

I simply nodded, skipping back downstairs. The first shirt my hands grabbed went on over my tank-top and my black jeans were slipped on top of my shorts. When i finished I went up to the fridge and finished off the last glass of grape juice. Emily handed my a piece of toast and the peanut butter. "Thanks,"

"It's nothing," she looked sad as I spread it over my toast and took a small bit off the corner. Emily thought it was best to not ask what was going on inside my head. And she was right. Even if she asked, i wouldn't have told her. Sam walked in from the living room, silently greating us. Emily smiled and walked over to kiss him passionately. My face contorted with disgust before i remember that I myself had a boyfriend. Once their little show was over, Emily asked, "You ready to go?"

"Yup," she handed me my jacket and wallet. Sam, being the huge, cheezy dork he is, snuck behind her and jabbed her in the sides. A loud, eardrum piercing scream filled the room. Skin on skin contact was heard and Sam was then sporting a wonderful, red hand print on his cheek. "Thats what you get,"

Emily went out and started the truck while I laced up my converse. The drive to Port Angeles was a short, yet quiet one. About halfway there, a loud thump echoed through to the cab. Emily glanced back, shaking her head and smiling. It must have been Seth.

When we got to the store, it ended up being Shopko, I glanced back to see Seth with his face smashed against the window and his tongue sticking out. I shook my head, cracking a small smile that only lasted a few seconds. Lately it seemed that I couldn't hold in happiness. The only thing that would stay in was sadness and worry. I absolutely hated it, but I didn't have any control over it.

Emily didn't seem to know what the hell we were gonna get her, and I didn't either. So, that led us to walking around aimlessly for an hour. That entire time there was something inside me, I could just feel it, that was slowly breaking apart. I pushed it away every time it came forward. Seth, on the other hand, was trying to hold my and or wrap a gentle, warm arm around my waist, but I wouldn't, I couldn't let him. I just couldn't.

We being Seth and I walked through the jewlery department when I came upon a rack with odd looking necklaces on them. There was one that caught my eye. It was a redish-brown wolf with bright green eyes. It was like someone had taken a picture of Tara and pasted it on the necklace. She'll love it.

Love.

At that moment, the something came back, but i couldn't push it away any longer and it snapped wide open, spilling out the emotions i've had to keep inside, all the tears I had to hide away. My body began shutting down, not being able to hold me up. My knees smacked the tiled ground. Gut wrenching sobs rocked my body back and forth. People started crownding, asking each other, "What's going on?", "Should we call 911?", and "Where are her parents?"

A low, angered voice answered them. "Her parents are dead." Everyone looked over at who said that and move away as he took a step forward. Once everyone was out of the way, Seth ran to me, embracing me, making me feel somewhat safe. He slipped his arm behind my knees and picked my up slowly. "Excuse us," he said softly, leading us towards the girls' bathroom. Seth shoed out everyone that was in there and set me down on the ground in the corner.

"Are you okay?"

"Well, let's see," I chocked out, "in a few days, a stranger is coming to take me away from the only people i know and love to take me to an unknown place where i'll stay until some family decides that i can come home with them. Do you think i'm okay?!"

"That's not what i was asking," he said, pushing a few stray strands of hair away from my face. "I was asking if you're hurt."

I shook my head, retreating to my own little ball. I heard Seth let out a heavy sigh and lean against the wall."I'm sorry,"

"Mirabelle," he looked over at me, sadness filling his eyes. "Why are you doing this?"

"You see, in my mind, if i stop giving and reciving love and compassion, then this seperati on will be easier to deal with. But deep down i know that nothing will keep away the pain of this seperation."

"Don't you have faith in us! We can get you out of that place when no one's looking!"

I wiped away a tear, looking back at him. "Really?"

He nodded smiling. "Definately."

"Oh,"

Seth pulled me into his arms again, whispering in my eat, "I love you."

I smiled, feeling a bit of strangth fill me and fix up the tear. "I... love you too Seth. I'm just not sure...."

"Not sure about what?"

"Anything."

"Welll, there's one thing you seem sure about."

"Yeah? What's that?"

He leaned forward and locked his lips with my own. The kiss slowly deepened until it hit the passionate mark. (author: hum, deja vu...) Sparks flew up my arms as Seth tangled his fingures with mine. We stayed like that for a few minutes before we heard a hihg pitche dscream behind us. We jumped apart and looked up at the mother with her child standing by the door.

The woman came forward and smacked Seth in the head. "Get out! Now!"

"Her daughter was laughing and i couldn't help but laugh along with her. The little girl stared at me for a minute before asking, "Aren't you the one who was,"

"Kaylie!" her mother warned, shutting the little girl right up.

"Sorry mommy."

"Come on sweetie, it's time to go home."

"Mommy, do we have to?" there were tears in her eyes.

"yes sweetie, your father's waiting for us." The lady's face turned grave. "Come on," she held out her hand and her daughter took it, not very happy about it, but she seemed to not have a choice. I thought, weird, they came in here then left without even using the bathroom. Huh.

I wiped the tears from my face and went outside to see Seth leaning against the wall looking all gangster like. To scare him, i went up behind him and smacked him in the head. He jumped and turned around, eyes wide. I burst out laughing, smiling like a fool. Seth mimicked the smile, happy to see me remotely happy again.

"Come on, let's go fine Emily and buy this for Tara."

We ran into Emily and decided to keep today's little event from her. She bought the present and a bag to put it in and we headed home.
