NOT ALONE. NOT ANYMORE

It's finally the day. I am still not so prepared but I have to do this.

Today is the Inter University sports meet. The injury and the assignments had given me less time for preparation.

"Hey! Don't worry. You are all good and remember, you rock". Joe made sure that she was there with me. She has always been supportive. It was kind of her skill. She always knew what I felt like.

"Yeah...Thanks Joe".

Our names were called and we had to assemble on the track. It was a relay of three members. I was running after Mia as second. I took in a deep breath. ' I am winning this'

The race began and both Mia and I made sure that we were in the lead. We were finally winning this in a clean sweep. But no....we aren't.

I passed the battle to Maddy, who was running last. And for god's sake, she never left her dirty tricks behind. She dropped the battle and gave me a stare like I did it.

"What!" she yelled at me. She did it , but blamed it all on me for being the reason for us to come last. And to add with the drama, there were many to believe her lie even when it was crystal clear that she had taken it from me , then dropped it from her hand.

I was really angry and sad too. I had done nothing wrong but I was the problem here.

"See...I had told you all that she is of no use. She made us loose."

Maddy was on it. I tried my level best to not burst out with tears. Then our coach walked to us.

' Kiara!get ready .. you are running for the singles."

Kathy's eyes widen and eyebrows join.

"no, she's not! Me and Mia who are on the list".

" you are taken off the list and I don't think you want to hear from me 'why'" the coach glared at her in anger. Then smiles at both Mia and me.

"you both did a great job."

I was happy that the coach didn't believe her stupid lie. We got up and stood on the track again.

"Even though we are friends, don't expect any sympathy from me. It won't be like the time before cause I am gonna make it hard for you", Mia had that challenging smirk ON.

"Yeah. By the way, get use to losing". We couldn't stop ourselves from laughing. Our focus is now only at the finishing point cause "Now the show begins"

Mia kept to her words. She was real hard to beat. It was a neck to neck race. Not just between we both, the other runners were equally competitive. But still, there is no Maddy to stop me here. I ain't gonna loose it now. I crossed the white line and there was this load of applause . I won this. Mia and a girl who were behind me  completed right just after me and shared their second position.

"I told you I will win." I smirked at her. Mia smiled and quickly wrapped me in a hug.
Then I went sat beside Joe. The boys are running next. Sam and Theo were on the track. From the past two years the main competition we face is from this guy. Though Theo is the best, this person was his fear too. He towers upon everyone there. Tall , handsome and fast, real fast. The scene of all those boys running like the house is on fire was marvelous, but the scene of the jumping and cheering person right beside me was even better to see.

"Awww...I see. Sam's on the track and someone can't stop cheering."

And there it is again . Joe was now a perfect red tomato with all the blushing . Joe and Sam have been in a relationship as long as I have known them.Sam is also Theo's bestfriend...so our whole gang is interlinked and weaved together.  Giggles burst out, but then the atmosphere gets filled with tension as they near the finishing line. Cheers for Theo gets louder and louder. Theo and that guy were focused on just each other. They were busy trying to defeat each other that they didn't notice Sam who easily over took them and then he won. Sam was the man of the day. Theo came right behind him and then gave Sam a 'mission accomplished' thumbs up. Joe was completely out of control during the prize distribution ceremony. We were all very or perhaps extremely happy. Kiddoo finds his way to us.

"Hey! Congratulations! Finally, you beat me. I come second and you first."

It didn't click me first, and then I understood. The race, he was second.

"oh yeah! Now that's a double victory" I smirked sheepishly.

"ohho...great. But you can't say no to the fact that I am the reason you could run today. Remember?"

I nudged him on his shoulder. Then Sam walks to us very excited.

"Thanks man! You got a great brain. The whole plan worked just as you said."

"what plan!??" I asked in surprise.

" He distractsthe runner and I win." Said Sam.

I looked at Theo. He was rubbing the back of his neck and looking down to not meet my eyes. Then he lift his head and looked at Sam.

"just thank me with a party....that's acceptable".

Everyone gets excited and started, "Party! Party! Party!"

"okay, okay...fine..my place..tonight,..just us...is that enough?

"of course!" we all chorused together.
