a knock on donghyuck's door woke him up. he stumbled to the door, still half asleep in his oversized shirt and shorts. he glared half heartedly at renjun, who stood at his doorway. "what is it?"
"mark is calling a meeting. he says to be down there in five minutes."
donghyuck crossed his arms. "why wouldn't come and get me himself?" he secretly was disappointed. since the two weeks the gun incident had happened mark had been one hundred times nicer to donghyuck, though he still kept his cold aura with the rest of the boys. donghyuck had gotten used to mark treating him differently then everyone else and liked it more than he should.
"i dunno, ask him at the meeting!" renjun rolled his eyes and donghyuck followed him down the extravagant staircase.
when the two arrived in the living room the whole mafia was there, sprawled out on the ground, the couches, or chairs. renjun had to take a seat on the coffee table and donghyuck was about to join him before he was tugged to mark's side, who sat on a loveseat by himself, only johnny leaning on the arm of the loveseat. donghyuck was so close to mark that the sides of their thighs were brushing.
"i've called this meeting because we have a new problem on our hands. a new mafia," mark explained. "i've set our official mission date to a week from now, prepare." he paused. "this mafia is good. they kill, they kill for fun. they do it well," mark spat. "but not for long." the members nodded solemnly.
donghyuck could tell missions were one of the most important parts of the mafia. they took these very seriously, judging from the expressions of every member. even the loud and goofy chenle had a dark look on his face.
"taeil, what's our budget?"
taeil looked at his laptop. "we have 700,000 in our bank account, sir. before last mission we had 900,000 and we spent 400,000 on that, but we gained 200,000 from businesses and anonymous donors." he adjusted his glasses. "this mission's budget is 350,000 dollars."
mark nodded. "what's the expenses for the weapons, johnny?"
johnny shook his head. "we only need some packs of bullets and a few more high tech guns," he said. "i'd say 75,000."
"sir?" jaemin raised his hand cautiously and mark nodded, gesturing him to speak. "we have a broken wheel on my van and the brakes aren't quite working on jeno's."
mark rubbed his temple as he gestured for taeil to put this down. "how much?"
"don't worry, not much. 25,000 at the most."
mark nodded. "any others? donghyuck? do you need any cartography materials?"
donghyuck sat up straighter. "huh?"
"do you need any cartography materials? for the mission?"
"wait," donghyuck said, confused. "i need cartography materials?"
"well, duh." mark gave the boy an amused smile. "we're not letting you waste your talents, huh?"
everyone in the room saw how mark spoke and looked at donghyuck. it was different then how he looked at anyone else. he spoke softly and gently to the boy, contrasting with the rough and dark way he spoke to anyone else. everyone also saw how mark lazily snaked an arm behind donghyuck, playing with the hem of the boy's loose shirt.
"i- what am i gonna do?" asked donghyuck.
"survey the area, make a map. that's why we have you."
donghyuck looked a little scared. "by myself?"
"no, of course not, donghyuckie," johnny interrupted. "i'll assign yukhei or doyoung to go with you-"
"no!" mark interrupted, glaring daggers at johnny. "i'm accompanying him. no questions asked."
