I stir in my sleeping position, my naturally loud alarm hitting my ear drums causing me to snap open my tired eye lids. I stared at my plain white and boring ceiling for less then a second before the ear piercing sound became maddening and I squeezed my eyes shut tight and covered my ears.
The alarm was a birthday gift from my dad. He forced me to use it since I'm— as he puts it, a heavy sleeper and it takes me a while to get up in the morning. I mean it's kind of true but not all the time. I honestly thought the gift was a complete joke, but here we are. My raging urge to throw it across my room was very tempting.
"Alright, I hear you, dumb shit," I grumbled underneath my breath and hit snooze.
As I sat from my comfortable position and out of bed, a piercing screech erupted from my throat when my bare feet touched the cold hardwood ground. Man, I wish I chose the room with the rug for floor.
Ignoring the coldness, I grab my phone off of the charger and walk out into the quiet and dim light hallway. The morning light made the hall look extremely creepy and I literally ran down the hall, into the bathroom and slammed the door behind me.
I'm a very paranoid person.
I can thank my cousins for making me watch horror movies every time the family gets together.
Literally. every. single. time.
The perks of being the favorite cousin.
Sitting my phone down, I yawn loudly and face the mirror. Let me tell you, I almost punched the mirror.
My hair is sticking out in every which way. I looked like I've been electrocuted at least 10 times.
Man, I am scary in the morning.
I take my hair out of it's messy ponytail and run my fingers through it creating a small knot. I winched when I accidentally pulled at my hair thinking my fingers would run straight through.
After I somewhat patted my hair down, I began brushing my teeth. While brushing, I check the time that's inside the mirror and roll my eyes.
The mirror tech came with the house my grandparents on my mothers side bought for my parents as an anniversary present a few years ago. I was maybe 14 at the time I think. 2016. You do the math.
7:05.
I never in any life time would wake up at this time. My usual routine is wake up at 8, check the time, go back to bed, wake up and check the time again, go back to sleep for 100 more years, and then finally wake up around two in the afternoon looking around my room wondering what planet I'm on and what species am I.
It be like that sometimes.
Once I put more toothpaste onto my brush and began brushing again, I grab my phone and do my Face ID, unlocking it. I widened my eyes and spat the toothpaste into the sink, the water washing it down the drain.
