The elevator doors slid open with a soft chime, revealing Ruby and Daniel as they stepped into Ozpin's office. Ironwood stood rigidly to one side, Glynda with her ever-present stern expression, and Ozpin himself behind his desk, mug in hand.
"Ah, sorry it took so long," Ruby began, shifting nervously.
Daniel shot her a look. "Yeah, someone accidentally hit all the buttons on the elevator on the way up here."
Ruby offered a nervous laugh, shrugging as Daniel glared at her.
Ozpin set down his mug, his gaze thoughtful. "Thank you for coming, Ruby and Daniel. How are you two feeling?"
"Fine. Nothing interesting has happened... apart from this," Daniel replied, his tone measured.
Ruby fidgeted with her hands. "Okay, I guess. I'd feel better if my bad-guy catching wasn't 0 for 3." She chuckled slightly, but the room remained silent, everyone looking at her with serious expressions.
Daniel leaned closer to Ruby, whispering, "Ruby, this isn't the time for jokes."
Ruby's eyes widened. "Oh, sorry everyone!"
Ironwood's expression softened slightly. "It's okay. Now, Ruby and Daniel, I feel it's appropriate to let you know that I think what you both did last night is exactly what being a huntsman and huntress is all about. You recognized a threat, you took action, and you both did the very best you could."
"Thank you, sir," they said in unison.
Ozpin steepled his fingers. "Now, the general here has already informed us of the events that transpired last night. But now that you've rested, we were wondering if you had anything to add."
Glynda adjusted her glasses. "Was anyone else with her? Did she look familiar to you both?"
Daniel considered for a moment. "Hmm, she was wearing a mask, and she never said anything to me or Ruby. But we both know she fought with glass. I don't think that was her Semblance, though. Her clothing lit up whenever she attacked."
Glynda's eyes narrowed. "Save for the glass, that sounds like the woman I fought the night we met Ruby and Daniel."
Ironwood shook his head. "Embedding Dust into clothing is an age-old technique. It could have been anyone."
Ruby's eyes lit up with realization. "Wait. You think this girl is connected to Torchwick and the White Fang?"
"Even though Roman Torchwick is dead, it could be possible," Ozpin acknowledged. "But we still lack the required evidence to link the two together."
Ruby bit her lip, thinking. "Actually, I... I think Daniel and I remember her saying something about a hideout, or something, in the southeast. Just outside the Kingdom."
A small smile played on Ozpin's lips. "Interesting."
Glynda turned to him, confused. "I thought you said the intruder never—"
Ozpin held up a hand, cutting her off. "Thank you for your cooperation, Ruby and Daniel. Why don't you two go and spend some time with your teams? You have a big day ahead of you both."
"Any time," Ruby said as she turned to leave.
"We will, sir," Daniel added.
Ozpin's gaze lingered on Ruby. "And Miss Rose, please try and be... discreet about this matter, like Daniel."
"Yes sir," Ruby replied, her expression serious.
The door to the Team RWBY/DANY dorm room swung open, revealing Yang, Sleek, Blake, Blaze, Weiss, and Shade inside. The six immediately rushed toward the doorway where Ruby and Daniel stood.
