Hi, thanks for picking my new story rain! I hope you enjoy it, please leave me some feedback!

Rain. The one thing that can either make or ruin your day. Say if you were a farmer and you were growing crops in a drought, rain could save your life. But, like me, it can make your newly-styled hair go frizzy and send your mascara in a black river down your face.

I pulled my coat hood up over my head, scraping my soggy hair back into a tight bun and scurried for the nearest tree. Peering down at my phone, the screen blinked at me. 8:30am. I needed to hurry up or I was going to be late for school.

Unzipping my bag, I took extra care not to let any of my books get wet. I reached for my umbrella and opened it up, hiding in my little cave of waterlessness, dry heaven. Continuing my stride, the hum of a van’s engine made me spin around, to be greeted by a huge wave of brown, murky water careering towards me. Great...

“Need a towel?” a deep, husky voice startled me but no one was there. Was I imagining it? I must have been. I made my way up the street and turned the corner, nearly at Keri’s house, she must have some spare uniform I can borrow.

A quiet, soft meow came from behind me and I whirled around to see Keri’s cat Eddie, beaming at me with his beautiful blue eyes. Kneeling down beside him, I ran my fingers through his fur as he purred faintly.

“Come on Eddie, let’s get you home.” I hoisted him up into my arms and held him close. The warmth from his coat comforted my shivering bones as he nestled his head into my neck. Animals always seemed to take a liking to me.

Gripping Eddie tightly, I paced myself and walked quickly so I could reach Keri’s house before I froze to death. Then, unexpectedly, a loud crash alarmed Eddie and he hissed, leaping out of my arms and darted off down the street.

“Eddie, no! Come back!” He ignored me and carried on, around the corner. I was unaware that in fact, the loud crash was a van door slamming. Eddie was blatantly not coming back, so I carried on down the road towards Keri’s house.
