My response to pain falls through cracks in the ceilings of my mind
Laying me deep in a muddy puddle of colorful dreams
Having nothing to do with light
I focus on hope of a better tomorrowGathering dead leaves from my dying tree
I can feel insects biting at my cheeks
Each day, numb to nails in my shoe
The past breaks into twoI see a way across the ocean as the sun guides my path
Faith weak and I begin to sink
Taught to fly and not swim
Water fills my lungs and I see you
You swallow me whole and take me to a menacing blue sea
As I learn to swim in your belly, I let goBreathing in saltwater air
The two become one as I reach the abyss
A destiny rewritten and I hear a voice speak
Awaken to a New Dream
