The room the mask was left in suddenly felt so cold and life felt so meaningless. What was he supposed to do when his love- wait a minut... 'LOVE!?' Luckily no one could hear him scolding himself for thinking that.
"Love? No, not him! NOT my best friend!" He was frantically starting to walk out the chamber and to the elevator. He murmured a few more insults softly at himself and hurryingly made his way into the now open elevator. The ride back up felt hours long. His mind was plagued with thoughts off them together. He desperately tried to get them all out of his head but failed. Then he thought of the perfect solution.
"I'll simply just go get that camera thing that shows your true desire. If his true desire isn't something related to me then I'll just drop these stupid feeling... And if it is... Then-" he got cut off by the sudden sound of people talking just outside the elevator. It then opened to reveal a few scientists walking into it. The mask found it off-putting that the reaserchers where so calm in his presence, but it was understandable. He squeezed past them and out before the elevator could close. Somehow he knew he was on the right floor.
He looked around and wandered through the seemingly endless maze of the foundation. He stumbled upon a door with the cameras picture on the sign next to it. Luckily it didn't need a key card to open because it was a safe class scp. He entered the room and snatched it without anyone noticing.
Now he could be seen. Partially. If he walked through a crowd all they would see is a floating camera which wasn't to his advantage. He somehow managed to sneak back to the elevator and back down to docs cell.
'The moment of truth'. He thought to himself as he raised the camera up so the lens is facing the plague doctor who was, once again, scribbling something into his journal. A flash of light blinded the mask as his eyes swiftly closed shut. Unexpectedly, but predictively the doctor acknowledged the flash of light as well. It was a bliss to know that the doctor acknowledged atleast something the mask did. What could he say he needed his daily dose of attention. Even though the doctor technically didn't quite know it was him. The picture slid out of the camera and the mask caught a glimpse of its contents.
Suddenly the unnervingly familiar sound of alarms blaring through the room and red light flashing brighter then ever sounded through the intercoms drowning the peace with chaos. The mask flinched and looked behind him at the light slowly looking back forward to find the doctor exiting his cell.
'Perfect...' he scoffed letting him pass, curious he followed close behind. The mask lightly placed the picture and camera atop a table nearby. They entered the elevator and silence crashed over them like a wave. Sadly neither one of them could break it. Nevertheless one of them spoke.
"It's been too long... Without you... Somehow the hours pass by slower now, now that I know your gone for good. But even though your not here it always feels like you are." The doctor spoke as he lowered his head and let his shoulders drop. The mask was surprised at first but then listened intrigued by the sudden sound of his doctors soothing voice.
"I've thought about you every night and day. Every time I do there is this feeling that was seemingly absent from my life until now. It's this-mysterious lingering feeling. I'm not sure what to think of it. But" he paused and chuckled to himself softly. "If you're somehow hearing this..." He sighed and grunted exiting the now open elevator. And murmured something the masks didnt quite catch. If he could he would ask for him to speak up but he couldn't. So he aimlessly walked with him further into the foundation.
He was sure they have walked around through the whole night and morning. He had to be outside soon so he separated himself from him for what he wished to be the last time. He walked outside and stood in the center of the field waiting for the girl to come back. Shortly after he came he caught a glimpse of a black dress in the corner of his eye. The girl stood at the gate waving her hand signaling for him to come to her. He did so quickly as he didnt want to waste more time. Together they left and entered the grim forest once more leaving the facility far behind.

The doctors time was running out and being handled by the MTF was the last thing he needed right now. He reluctantly walked back to his cell and wished for this to have been a dream. Instantly he didn't wish it anymore as he noticed something odd. A camera with a picture next to it. He walked closer picking up the picture and viewing it with disbelief.
It was a picture of him and his masked companion but when or how this picture was taken he did not know. He couldn't recall this moment either. The only thought that came up while looking for an explanation where those that he recently dreamt of. From the day that he did dream of the moment he always thought of it and longed for it to come true.
He slipped the picture into his bag and closed it back up. At least now he had something to remember the mask by. It seemed as though this picture was all he had left of him so he kept it close. He would viewed it when times where rough but even when they where all right. What he could never now was that it might just come true.
" I hope to see you soon... Dearest."
