"Mason please!" She shouted to the only figure inside the circle like structure. It was more of an oval though. Black spikes towered over them shimmering in the bright sun. Pieces of them were scattered around them, sharp and pointy, from the persistent gunfire.
"Why do you think I would do anything to help you?"
"I- because..." He really doesn't have to if he doesn't want to. " Because the fate of the whole foundation is in your hands. Just think of the possibility of making their stay at this dump just a little better. Fewer containment breaches, higher morale, better cooperation!"
He pondered from a distance. Then started to walk towards her. She walked towards him too. Short moments later they were standing meters away.
"Look, Mason-"
"You're right..."
"I... Am?"
She smiled and tears welled up in her eyes. After everything, they've been through... Finally, he saw it, the perfect coexistence!
Flashes of the first time they met had appeared as a small flicker of light in her mind. He came to her containment she was completely cooperative and polite. She told him things she shouldn't have but now there was nothing she could do.
It's not like she could erase his memory of her or something. Not now at least, she's too tired.
"I'm sorry [REDACTED] I didn't see that... Your right completely right..." She took a step back when he started to approach her.
"You Remember... my name?"
"Of course I do come here!"
Old friend...
He hugged her and she hugged him back not waisting another minute. For a moment, but only for a moment, finally feeling like things could be better.
She gasped still clutching to his back.
Drip, drip, drip.
There was blood. And then there was the pain. Looking down she saw the other's hand. Mason stabbed her back with her own weapon. One of the black shards he grabbed off the floor when she wasn't looking.
She untangled herself from the embrace and stumbled to the floor. Her hand hovered over her lip. She could taste something metallic flowing through her mouth. Blood?
It had been so long since she bled. Ever since the last time she was condemned to spend her days at the foundation. That was the last time... She told herself she'd never let herself bleed ever again... that didn't work out too well.
"I'm sorry... You are a threat to the foundation. Your whole act could coast us the lives of millions. You where the first one to ever come this close to being anything close to normal, I could've considered you a friend in another life. But I guess I underestimated you. I'll miss you, but I'm sure you know that."
She was practically choking on blood and since the spike has been removed she'd probably die of blood loss soon.
"It was nice while it lasted..." her last words, they were bound to come someday. "...I'll see you hell you little sh-" A cough cut her off. And with the strength, she had left she used it to ease her way to the cold, hard ground. Her body going limp once more, but she was still breathing.
The spikes that towered around them retreated back into the ground, exposing Mason and the bloody dagger-like spike he still held in his hand.

The world stopped as they finally saw what happened on the inside. The girl, on the floor and that man she so desperately wanted to bring to the to see the light, above her looking down at what he's done.
The mask was the first to notice and rushed towards them hopping over the holes in the ground made by the now absent spikes. Tentacles rose around Mason and grasped him by the neck lifting him above the ground.
"You bastard!" He shouted squeezing harder almost enough to kill him. If there would be lights around they would almost certainly flicker off. He kneeled at the body of the girl examining her wound. he held her head up noticing that she was still living but beraly. No one else had made it to them yet it was only them three for now. He felt something tugging on his sleeve. One of the girls hands rose up revealing a key.
"What's this for?-
Her finger landed on his lip and then she placed it over her own. She wanted him to keep it a secret. By now the mask had shoved the key far into his pocket laying the girls body down carefully as to not disturb her. He looked back to see why the others were taking so long. Suddenly he was yanked off of his host.
"What in the f-
"Oh my god..." The others made it to the scene. The tentacles must've loosened when he let his guard down. The doctor stood at the front of the group. Peanut, Lanky, and Larry were behind them and many more came over to see what had happened. Doc was powerless, The remaining MFT was looking at peanut while mason covered his eyes to not trigger 096.
Larry was about to charge when Doc's arm shot up in front of him. His golden eyes glared at him telling him that this wasn't the way to do this. He retreated for some reason, usually, he would ignore this but this time he felt it was important to wait.
Mason held the mask as if he was going to put it on but that was farthest from what he intended to do.
"Now listen! You will all do as we say and return to your containment cells, or your friend here will die!" His voice shot through them like bullets. Doc stumbled back, he didn't know what to do.
What if he's shattered? What will he do? Without him? There's still so much he wanted to do, so much he wanted to say... Maybe he still could.
"Doc..." The masks voice echoed through his mind. Of course.
I don't know what to do I don't want anything to happen to you!
"So what if it does. Then you could keep on fighting, and win eventually... Right?"
NO! I can't live without you, just thinking of the time I was without you makes me feel sick, I don't want to live in a world where you don't exist beside me.
He was shaking, he doesn't notice until know that tears began to flow out of his eyes. He was afraid, what if this is the last time he'll get to hear his soothing voice or the last time he'll get to caress his smooth porcelain. When was the last time he got to do that? He shivered.
"Well then if I do go, and you know better then anyone that its a possibility, just tell me... What you wanted to say, you know, in the elevator?" He paused looking up at the masks frown as it hovered high above the ground and the world stood still.
"I said..." He hesitated finally breaking the deafening silence.
"I said that I love you!" this caused the mask to smile. Everyone stared at him even the people, which ment... Then with lightning speed peanut shot past him.
Snap!
Masons disfigured body fell to the floor and peanut caught the mask before it hit the rubble. In the heat of the moment all eyes returned to 173 who was now motionless once again. Doc ran to him grabbing the mask out if it's stumps and placing him back on his host. The figure stood up quickly the black tears flooded his dark eyes and he practically leaped into docs arms.
"Please don't ever scare me like that ever again!" The doctor truly cried for the first time in a while.
The mask laughed and hugged the other tighter. After some time of just staying like that he untangled himself from docs arms and held onto his face. One hand gently brushing the side of his mask and the other stroking a strand of his thick curly hair.
"I love you too..."
