A/N:
So I haven't been very active lately, partially because I'm not entirely sure how I want to write the next chapter, partially from switching to a newer phone, and partially because I'm kinda busy for the holidays. I'm genuinely sorry I haven't been able to update.

None of Sophie's friends were sure what to do after that encounter, so they simply sat around the aurenflare in silence. Even the rainbow-colored flames couldn't lift Sophie's spirits or ease their bodyguards’ worries.
Finally, Sophie had to ask, “What do you guys think Lady Gisela meant?” and broke the silence with the question they were all wondering. Of course, no one had a good answer.
Keefe sighed heavily. “I bet you Mommy Dearest was just playing mind games. You know how good she is at that.”
A little too good, Sophie agreed internally. But suddenly another, possibly scarier thought emerged. "You guys don't think it sounded a bit like she needs our help?” she asked carefully.
“Or maybe she thinks we'll need her help,” Fitz added.
“But for what?” Biana inquired, beating the rest of them to the question.
Either way, whatever deal they struck would have prices and strings attached. Sophie knew from experience. And she could tell Fitz and Keefe were thinking the same thing. The Neverseen were always a few steps ahead. But what if there was someone ahead of even them?

“Well, we're not getting any answers doing nothing,” Keefe said, standing up. Sophie jumped up as well.
“Don’t—” she began, but Keefe interrupted.
“I promise I'm not running off recklessly this time, okay? I was just gonna hail Magnate Leto, see what he has to say. I appreciate the worry, Foster, but how ’bout instead you just sit this one out? You can't hog all the fun, after all.” He maneuvered her over to sit beside Fitz.
But Sophie wasn't sure she could sit out, even if she wanted to. She was the moonlark, wasn't she?
