Lisanna was welcomed to Team Natsu with open arms. Lucy was pretty upset, but dealt with it. Lisanna was her friend, so she had to stop being jealous. But it was harder to do that as the months went past. Lisanna was brought on jobs that normally consisted of only the trio. Lucy could deal with that. Then more jobs, and with each one Lucy was being left out more, until Lucy wasn't even going with them, fed up with all their lovey dovey crap. The trio once consisting of Lucy, Natsu and Happy now was Lisanna, Natsu and Happy.

The only reason why she was ever tagged along was because Happy insisted of it, claiming it wasn't the same without her. Lisanna and Natsu treated him like a baby and would never let him do anything, not even carry Natsu when he was being attacked. Lucy of course agreed a couple of times for she could not resist his Puppy Dog (Kitten Cat?) eyes.

And she only went to the Christmas party Lisanna hosted because of Mirajane. "You've been locked up in your place for too long. Forget Natsu, he..." then she burst into tears. "You two would've been so cute together!" which did not help Lucy's confidence. But nonetheless, she went. Which was probably the worst thing she could have ever done.

Lucy had stayed in the back, quickly ending any small talk made with her and getting more to drink when she saw anyone approach her. By the end of the party, everyone was drunk and sleeping. Lucy was drunk as well, but not unconscious. She was pulling herself together and cleaning up some of the mess, the least she could do for everything she ate and drank. But that wasn't the only thing, deep down, Lucy was guilty about all the horrible thoughts she had of Lisanna. "Ugh..." someone was stirring. Lucy drew in a sharp breath as Natsu stood up ad stumbled to the doorway. Lucy, remember she's drunk too, tried to help him but he fell atop her. "Hmmm... I love you..." Lucy's heart stopped beating. "Lisanna..." he added quietly. Lucy sighed, of course. "Here, let me help." she decided to bring him into an empty guest room and lay him on the bed. But before she could leave, Natsu grabbed her hand. "No, stay." he pulled Lucy onto the bed. Lucy honestly could not tell you what happened next, for when she woke up in the morning, on an empty bed, she had no recollection of what happened last night, except that she had helped Natsu onto and bed. To her, she blacked out and succumbed to sleep. But that was far from the truth. Readers, you know the truth, the secret not even Natsu knew about, the secret Lucy suspected. But don't judge Lucy, she did nothing wrong. If anything, it was Natsu's fault. Nothing happened, Lucy reassured herself, I didn't betray my friend.

But if nothing happened, why was Lucy feeling horrible in the mornings? Why did the pregnancy tests come out positive? Why did Lucy's belly start to grow bigger by the day? Even Levy noticed it. "Wow, no offense, but you've been gaining weight." Lucy had no response. She just felt awful. Guilt grew bigger by the day, until she couldn't take it anymore. She told Mirajane her secret, and of course she was a little disappointed but she wasn't mad at her. "We were all drunk." Mirajane blushed a little. "We had no idea what was going on, so that's exactly why you shouldn't believe some people about what happened last night. Like for instance, Laxus and I cuddling. That did NOT happen!" Lucy blinked in confusion and smiled. "Of course." she answered.

Eventually, she told Levy, Cana, and Juvia. But not Erza, Lisanna was a dear friend of hers, who knows how she would react if Lucy told her she betrayed her old friend. They were all supportive, and like Mira, a little shocked and disappointed in her, but supportive nonetheless. Until she told them her plan. "What?!" Cana had yelled. "You can't just leave!" Levy had protested. But Lucy was stubborn. She refused to listen to reason, she was going to quit the guild and leave. That way nobody had to know about the baby, especially Lisanna and Natsu. She wouldn't hurt anyone. "Fairy Tail members don't run away, we stick together and fight together. Juvia- I won't let you." Juvia held Lucy's hand as she started to walk to Makarov's office. "Juvia, please, I want to do this, and it won't matter. I'm not going to be a member anymore." Juvia sobbed into Levy's arms as Makarov, clearly heartbroken, removed her mark. Lucy held back tears as she remembered the moment she joined.

"Hey, Natsu, look. Mirajane just put the official Fairy Tail mark on my hand."

"Juvia, tell everyone I'm sorry, I made a horrible mistake. And tell Lisanna I feel guilty for betraying her."

"Natsu." she found Natsu with Lisanna, of course, and tapped his shoulder. "Come with me, I need to talk to you." Natsu raised a brow. "Is it about losing weight?" he joked, but saw her face, knowing it was serious. Once alone, Lucy gave Natsu a hug. "Do you remember what happened at the Christmas party?" she asked, still hugging the mage. "No, why?" Lucy chuckled, as if it was an inside joke. "Of course not, but I'm sorry anyway. This whole time I was blaming you but it was my fault too. I shouldn't have been drinking and I should've left the room." Natsu's grip loosened. "What... are you talking about?" Lucy let go and took a step back. "Nothing, I just want you to know..." Lucy started but hesitated. 'This is the moment, tell him you love him!'

"Natsu?" Lisanna beckoned the pink haired wizard to her. "Can you come here?" Natsu looked at her then Lucy. "It's fine, just know that Fairy Tail was the best family I ever had. Thank you for everything." Natsu laughed. "Gee Lucy, you're acting all sappy. What is with you? It's like... Where's your mark? What did you do to your mark?" Lucy hid her hand. "Lucy! Answer me! What did you-" Natsu looked like the world vanished beneath his feet. "You... You didn't." Lucy walked away. She was tempted to go back, but if she did, they would find out her secret. Lisanna would hate her, Natsu and the guild would be disgusted. It would be better to leave on her own terms, instead of them kicking her out.

Yes, it was better like this. She wasn't running away, she was protecting Natsu and Lisanna's relationship and the guild's reputation.

"Look mama, it's the family. You, Cupcake, and me!" Lucy snapped out of her thoughts and looked at her daughter. It was a drawing with two stick figures and their corgi, Nashi insisted on it instead of a big guard dog. Granted, it wasn't the best crayon drawing ever, but Lucy put it on the fridge nonetheless. She had made the right choice, no matter how much her conscience bothered her. Lucy picked up her pink haired daughter Nashi.

It's better this way. Natsu and Lisanna can live happily ever after, people will still love Fairy Tail without knowing about Lucy betraying her friend and bearing her boyfriends child. Yes, just Nashi and me, thought Lucy, it's better this way. She doesn't need to know her father or what her mother did.
