An: Thank you to the lovely comment left by @CosmicMoth !

The day had come at last. Zarpedon had arrived. And you were wriggling in literal anticipation. The security measures you had been working on were finally pushed through by Tassiter, who seemed to like you infinitely more than he liked Jack. The first few troops  to enter the building rushed in and were instantly turned into piles of goop, just as you had hoped would happen. You bit your lip in excitement. Hopefully today was the day Tungsteena Zarpedon would die.

Jack slid into the doorway of the black ops sector frantically, panting. "The station is under attack!"

You crossed your arms smugly and replied with a grin on your face. "Oh. I know that. They can't get in unless  I die. The biometric scanning system is linked to my heartbeat. It only goes offline if I quit living. Even if power is cut....even if they sneak in the back door, they are not getting in."

Jack gave you an odd look and took a step back. "I think Nakayama is rubbing off on you a little bit. You...really enjoy the idea of these intruders being turned to goop, don't you?"

You decided it was ok to let a little bit of what you knew slip out. "They have killed you and me both on several  occasions." Nakayama didn't even look up. He was used to strange talk in this department.

Jack was quiet. You didn't normally share the things you had seen. "Ok." He said and left. You had a strange feeling in your chest, but turned back to the monitors to watch the intruders being picked off by the turrets, stuck outside as they were. You sipped the chamomile tea and maintained a smug expression. Jack's reaction stirred something in you. Worry? Why was he so...put off by your enthusiasm? This was the end of a seemingly never-ending hell for you. It was over after years, finally.

Zarpedon had been trying to break into Hyperion for a couple weeks until she switched tactics. Instead of trying to get in, she thought it would if she kept people from getting out. You had anticipated this and created a digistructor capable of printing real food. No one was getting starved out of this impasse. This time, she tried for several months before realizing no one was dying. Eventually...she left which you didn't like. You guessed she wasn't giving up but rather going after reinforcements. But the crisis was averted. For now. So you refocused on your job. To make Jack immortal it was going to take every bit of ingenuity you had.

You saw very little of Jack, which was why you were surprised to find that he had a love interest one evening. It was like you had barely talked since Zarpedon. You checked the time frame and realized that it would've been right around now that he first met Angel's mother. You smiled at the idea your big brother would be a father. Wait...You could stop Angel's mother from being...disappeared if you only trained Angel in the siren ways like Lilith had once trained you.

You stretched and stood, intending to walk down to the cafeteria and grab his favorite. When you got there you saw that he was already there with a girl and gently backed away. He had little time for you recently, but it was understandable. He was in love. It stung a little after everything you had sacrificed for him. You knew something was wrong between the two of you. You had scared him when you smiled about the intruders getting zapped by your new security system.

You couldn't help it. It was relieving to finally cross Zarpedon's invasion off the list of threats to this life you had cultured. There was a creaking boom that rocked the entire facility and threw you onto your ass. You cracked your head on the floor and crawled dazed into a sitting position. The shields equipped to Helios engaged a second later and any further blows were muffled. But the damage was done. There were red alerts going off all over the station for hull breaches. Luckily not one in the cafeteria. Jack....

You stood and swayed, almost falling again as you began to make your way toward the control center to lend a hand. You trusted your security would focus on the breaches so no one came creeping in. That left sealing them on them agenda. You actually fell, tripping over an unconcious form on the floor. It was Nakayama. He was bleeding from a wound on his head that had connected with a door panel. You tore off your labcoat and bounded the injury as tightly as you dared.

There were more injuries. Confused technicians and accountants alike crouched on the floor together. You powered through. You had to. You stopped dead when you saw the scene outside the station through an observatory window. Hundreds of people spaced, frozen and dead. Innocent people. Around them hovered the fighter jets of the Lost Legion.

Zarpedon had returned and she was ready with a plan it seemed. You clenched your fists. Hull breach first and then... Then Zarpedon would meet your wrath as an all powerful siren. You were going to enjoy killing her for this. For all the past grief she had given you. It was time for payment.
