Chapter 6
Upon my awakening the first thing I noticed was how brightly lit the room was. This could mean one of two things. I had died and gone to heaven or it was just my mind playing tricks on me and I was in Tia's room still. I honestly had hoped for the first option considering I knew the amount of pain I was going to be in. Regrettably, it was the latter option and as my eyes began to focus, I noticed that everyone was quietly sitting on the bed opposite the room. It was very creepy for me considering the fact that I don't know how long I was out or why they looked at me like I was going to murder them.
Getting past that small fact I sat up and groaned in pain. My pain was still sore but it had healed a lot more than I had originally thought considering the amount of blood that had come out of my back. But it was time to move on from that. As I sat up, I rubbed my eyes and looked over at my friends with a sceptical head tilt and eye narrowed at them.
"What's the big idea here guys? Ambush the poor girl who just woke up from bleeding? Or is it because your sorry for not noticing earlier. Either way I'm not in the mood to hear it right now you'll have to talk to someone who cares," I grumbled out my voice still deepened as if I was asleep or I was a male secretly either way it was a possibility.
Tia's timid voice broke the long pregnant silence that ensued after I had said my little piece "Neither we uhm.... We believe you, I guess... I may have taken your phone and called your mums new guy and the voices are an exact match."
I looked over at them not noticing the Felix had his laptop with him. I thought to myself that it was handy he had that and that he had recorded the other voice for comparison. Then again, I reminded myself that Felix recorded almost anything because he was sceptical of everything and everyone. It hadn't gotten too bad yet I mean he wasn't into conspiracy theories yet and hadn't decided to become a hacker and all that shit but still it had gotten a bit weird as of recently.
Not the point at all but still... you've got to when thing that your friends are doing is creepy and this is that time. The point is that now all my friends believed the fact that I had known for the past few days. The creepy guy that my mother was dating was the person who had sent all of us the creepy phone calls the other night. The next question however was how on goddesses' green earth do I now mention it to him. I clearly don't want to be killed or anything but he needed to be confronted about whatever the hell was going on in the world. We can't have been the first people to have received these phone calls from him I can guarantee that. I needed space to think about what was happening and having my friends there glaring at me like I was some form of alien was not helping me.
I looked over at the mismatched blob of people or well group of people I shouldn't say blob that's mean but still. I looked over at them and they were staring at me. I didn't like what u saw so I spoke up about it.
"What? Oh, now you believe me that it was him? Couldn't take my word for it aye." My voice was deeper than I had intended but it had the desired effect in my friends. They were scared. It was funny really because out of the group I was the least likely to be found to be scared by any of the members. That wasn't the point either. I'm getting really off track here people.
So, to get us back on track... my friends finally believed me about the creepy ass dude that was following us and randomly calling us but what to do next was the important question, I think. I turned and looked at them and asked them just that.
"What the hell do we do now hmm?"
From the looks traded around it was obvious what we were to do next. Clearly it was going to be survey and watch until we can find an opening to talk to him. But realistically that could be never. So, I formed my own plan in my head. It wasn't as pretty and eloquent as the one that we were coming up with as a group but there was no one around it. Sometimes a little force was necessary to get the job done. The only question was how much force. I mean it wasn't going to go all Joker on the man but I wasn't going to be a goody two shoes about the whole thing anyway.
The actual plan everyone had come up with was to watch and observe the movements of the person and then find a weakness to exploit. I was on bored but to be honest my torture idea was the best one that we had. So, looking at them I sighed in wonder of how stupidly ignorant my friends could be of the world.
"Right so how exactly do you plan on having this place under surveillance? How do we do that to this place without any high-tech equipment or cameras. Is one of us going to sit outside his house all day and watch them?" my voice would be the voice of reason I guessed at this point. I wasn't wrong we neither had the time or the money to buy anything good enough to use to observe the place. I mean we were only students in the first place. However, the most confusing thing of all was why was this happening to us? Like what had we done to deserve this injustice be done to use.
It was at this point that I realised that Felix had been holding a bag of some sort and I looked at home curiously. I tilted my head and raised my eyebrow in surprise and in question to that bag. He looked over at me and saw me looking at the bag in curiosity.
"In this bag I have all the old phones and laptops and electrical devices that have recording technology built into them. I figured that we could use them for a project or something at school but now that we have a random creepy stalker person who is dating your mum. I figured that we could use them to observe this guy and find out what he is up to." He sounds meek like he wasn't sure of what he was saying. His voice was higher than it normally should have been plus there was his body language. I mean he was looking everywhere else but at us and had slumped his shoulders trying to make himself seem smaller than he was. But it was a good plan, I mean what could go wrong with setting up cameras and things trying to spy on an adult who is older the us by several decades and has more knowledge and probably more paranoid than anyone we know.
I let out a sigh. My plan would work better but it broke literally a thousand laws including some international ones. I mean all I wanted to do was find him and make him tell us everything we wanted to know. But that wasn't very nice of me I thought. I shook my head trying to get rid of the tiny voice inside of it whispering all these things that I should do to the creepy man. I sighed again feeling the adrenaline leave my veins. It was saddening and I wanted was to feel that rush again. To feel the excitement and the thrill run through my veins like a sprinter on the track. It was quick and fleeting feeling that I wanted. But I wanted it to be permanent I thought. I wanted it to be so that it was all I could feel. I scratched at my arms as my eyes darted to the faces that were staring at me. Waiting for me to give my opinion.
"Well if you want to know what I think... He is older than us and will probably be more paranoid considering what he is doing but I mean your plan is probably the best considering the other options are hard to put into place by four teenagers" I ponder out loud as look at the faces once more.
It was then that I could feel the crystals through my veins freezing them. The faces reflected exactly what I thought they would. Agreement. The one thing I didn't want to see from any of them. I wanted someone to disagree or have a better plan but I guess here we are stuck with a mediocre plan to somehow set up cameras and things to find out what the hell was happening.
