full cast rehearsal ended and without biding a goodbye to her friends, leighton left the bomb shelter room. on her way out she felt a presence next to her, lifting her head just a little. ashlyn was next to her and put a smile on her face and leighton returned it back.

"hey leighton, i just wanted to thank you again for like-you know playing my song. i saw you cry a little, also. it's not my business but i can definitely talk if you need to." the girl said as leighton nodded.

"yeah you know, i just have a lot on my mind. i think i'm just glad i didn't mess up or anything. but anyways, where you headed?" the brunette explained as they both opened the doors to the front of east high.

ashlyn pointed to a grey jeep parked in the drive by. leighton squinted her eyes to focus on what the girl was pointing to. she noticed it was ej who seemed, yet again distracted by something. it looked like a phone.

"well i guess i will leave you to it. see you next rehearsal, girl." leighton said walking to the opposite side of the entrance and waited for her sister to pull up to get her. taking a seat on a bench, she let out a deep sigh and ran her fingers in her hair.

her mind couldn't catch a break. it had been thinking too much since her father passed away and just when she thought it settled down, it started up again. not realizing she was in such deep thought, a horn pulled her away from the unknown.

nayeli waved her sister to hurry up and get in the car. leighton put a smile on her face, happy to see someone who she had no issues with and jogged to the car. "what's up sista!" nayeli said driving off before leighton could really close the door.

the girls talked all the way home, catching up with each other's lives. it felt great to speak about what's been bothering leighton. nayeli kept telling her sister to just let everything play out. she couldn't force ricky to give her answers with as much stuff on his plate. she had to wait for the "right time".

after working on some homework once getting home, leighton decided to call it a night with that and started to review some lines and piano notes.

it was nearly midnight before leighton gave up and grabbed her phone. the entire time she was running her lines, ricky's face was popping in her head. she broke their no communication and decided to talk to him first.

the girl simply texted a 'hey' and immediately got a response from ricky. ricky had been dying to talk to leighton all day, but couldn't bring himself to after him dodging the questions she asked him.

ricky wanted to talk face to face to the girl yet didn't think it was a good time of night to go over to her house. he settled on facetiming her and she picked up after the fourth ring.

"hey ricky, didn't expect you to call me right now." leighton said awkwardly and ricky gnawed on his lip. clearly thinking she didn't want to speak to him.

"oh, yeah i kind of missed your voice honestly. it's been a day or so and i don't think i'm used to us not speaking like that. i can go if you want." ricky said but leighton denied pretty fast. she blushed but held down the camera so he couldn't see.

in fact, she was happy he called. she missed his voice too, even if they spoke for a few seconds earlier in the day. it wasn't the same.
