I keep a distance, but not on purpose
And I can tell you feel the same
The expectations in situations
Are driving me insane
____________________EVIE HAD sent Dizzy away to hang out with some other kids so that left the five of us VKs as we waited for the Fairy Godmother and Ben to show up.
No one really said anything as we pondered over our situation.
Carlos stayed close to me until the knock on the door came.
"Goodness gracious" was the first thing Fairy Godmother exclaimed when she came in.
"Thank you so much for coming." Evie said as she closed the behind Ben.
"Of course." Fairy Godmother replied, "I have a lot of questions."
"I'm afraid I might not have all the answers." I told her.
"Whatever you know is enough." Fairy Godmother responded firmly, before reaching over and giving me a hug.
Tears threatened to spill again.
"But first and foremost." Ben spoke up, taking off his jacket, "How're you feeling?"
"Like any girl would feel like when they find out their dead mom is alive." I replied, not helping but let a little sarcasm into my words.
I felt Jay's hand on my shoulder, calming me down.
"I'm really sorry, Brae." Ben sighed.
Mal went to his side and took hold of his arm, then gave me a pitiful look.
"It's alright. Sorry for snapping." I said.
"I want to speak to her." Fairy Godmother said, "If that's okay."
"How?" Carlos asked.
"Any way you can get her to come here?" She asked, "And her daughter?"
I bit my lip. "I don't think she's gonna agree to that cause apparently she hiding from you."
"We'll just have to persuade her then." Carlos said, crossing his arms determinedly.
"It's an hour ride." Evie noted, "If we're fetching her, it will definitely take a while."
Ben turned to Fairy Godmother. "I cancelled all my meetings for the rest of the day. George agreed to sign the papers while I'm away." He told her.
"Well then." Fairy Godmother said, looking proud that the young King had everything dealt with. "We can wait."
I gulped, knowing that I had to go back but not fond of the idea.
Mal let go of Ben and approached me. "I'll go with you." She offered.
"I'm coming too." Carlos stepped up.
"Me too." Evie said.
"And you'll need a driver." Jay joked.
"A terrible one." Carlos snickered.
I couldn't help but laugh. "You guys..." I smiled, "What would I do without you?"
"I guess it's settled." Mal grinned, before turning to the Fairy Godmother. "Will you be alright waiting for us?"
"Of course, dear. The best of luck to all of you."
Jay had managed to not endanger our lives this time, and we arrived in a little under an hour. The VKs were my ultimate family, so I felt more confident when I stepped through the store doors again.
