For years, she had longed to see someone who looked like her. Sure, they had guys who were slightly darker than usual but overall, if they were brown, they were light and easily confused for another ethnicity. Never Black. Even The Rock wasn't Black like her: he was Canadian and Samoan. He just....wasn't like her. The other promotions weren't better except WCW and that's only because they were on the decline. If they weren't, they wouldn't have pushed Booker T even with all of his talent.
She hated that.
She really hated it. So she grew up and trained. She got to see the women's "evolution" aka a vanity project to make Ronda Rousey and the other bland, vanilla wrestling broads over while Trinity aka Naomi went into the background. She saw Lucha Underground and loved it but, where were the darker Black women? It seemed like the Indies were made for people like her so that's where she went. It hurt and it made her little money but she didn't want to lose her love and passion for the business because she wasn't the ideal suck and bang partner. Nah, she was gonna take the world by storm. She knew she was crazy and honestly, she thought better most days until her cousin told her that she'd be wrestling in a major promotion in North America with TV time. She could even be herself. Kinda. Maybe it'll work.
It won't really, was her thought as shesat in on her first talent meeting for AEW. She spotted the cagey looking guywho couldn't stop pacing, nor did he let anyone at his back. He was cuter a fewmuscles and a nicer hairdo ago. Add in last she heard, he was married so....andwith no other prospects, Mix resigned herself to being celibate a while longer.
