I looked up at the ceiling of my room
and sighed. It was my first day of the semester in college and I couldn't be any more nervous. It was the first time i've been out of my comfort zone and it was beginning to show.
My body seemed to react from my thought as dark blue scales gradually emerged, replacing my skin.
To most, it would shock them that I am part human and part wyvern.
How that exactly happened I haven't figured out yet, but when I first transformed into a wyvern when I was younger, my parents saw me in my room staring back at them and had something close to a meltdown.
They have been protective of me since then which I could understand why, but it took all my efforts of pleading to them for me even to leave to university.
I have been very careful with interactions with others so far since I still have not mastered controlling my emotions around others. Not in the sense of normal social interactions, but more stressful situations where my body kicks into a flight or fight mode.
I was brought back to real life by a couple loud knocks on my door. It was my dorm roommate Josh and it couldn't have been a worse time to knock.
"Yes?" I replied back hiding my nervousness.
"Hey Quinn, it's time for our first class. Open up or i'll bust it open myself" He called out knocking on the door slightly harder.
I took a moment to collect my emotions and my scales slowly retracted back into my skin.
I got out of my bed and slowly opened the door.
"Happy now?" I said sarcastically walking by him making my way towards to the small kitchen in the dorm.
"Are you ready for math today?" Josh said grinning from ear to ear.
I rolled my eyes and ignored him and continued making breakfast which was some nice bacon and eggs.
I then finished breakfast soon after and headed out to class with Josh accompanying me.
As I left the dorms and entered the school again I could see the school name embedded in big red letters that read University of Idaho.
A small pit of nervousness grew at the bottom of my stomach but I shrugged it off and continued towards class.
Me and Josh soon entered a large lecture hall for math and I groaned silently. There were many rows of seats that were taken by students.
"Can I drop out yet?" I mumbled over to Josh.
"As your dorm roommate, not a chance" he said smiling while taking a seat.
I felt my body fall slightly.
Class ended soon after and we left for our break that was rather long due to getting a bad schedule.
"Finally, were done with math, i've been waiting to eat, im starving" I said looking around campus for the food court.
Josh raised one of his eyebrows and looked at me weird, "you just ate Quinn".
"Ok and? Im a growing boy, I still got 2 or 3 years left" I said grinning in which Josh rolled his eyes.
Then something caught my eye in the distance causing me to forget about eating. There were rows of stands with signs that advertised for a certain club.
Josh soon took notice and quickly made his way over while I idly watched in the background. I hadn't spot any good clubs yet.
I walked around a bit more with none of the clubs seeming any interesting until the corner of my eye saw one club at the edge almost hidden from sight, Astronomy.
