"I didn't know that you would be in town, Vylad!"

"Neither did I! But I was lucky enough to get a job here, so that's always great." He replied to Nana. "But, I came here to catch up with you guys! How have y'all been?"

A grin spread across Aphmau's face. "Well, you came in just the right time! Kawaii~Chan here was talking about some guy she met at a coffee shop today."

"Hey!" She yelped. "Don't tell him that!"

"Oooo! Talking about boys now, are we? Looks like I got here at the right time then." He laughed. "So, what does he look like?"

"Well, he's tall..."

"Yeah..."

"He has black hair... and light blue eyes!"

"Mhm..."

"Kinda pale skin..."

The cheeky smirk he had grew more; he had a good feeling who this person was just from the detail alone.

"Oh, hold on! Let me get some tea for this thing we've got going on here!" Aphmau said as she hurried to the kitchen. Once she was out of sight, Vylad had the biggest complacent grin on his face.

"What's with the face?" She asked.

"It's Zane, isn't it?"

"How did you-!?"

"Is it actually him!?"

"Yes! At least, that's what his name is."

"Really? Ew."

The two of them started laughing at the joke. Vylad did tend to pull quick jokes on and with close friends, sometimes catching them off guard as well.

"How did you guess so easily?" She asked once her giggling died down a bit. "I thought my details were pretty vague."

"He's my older brother! Well, half-brother anyways." He said. "Zane works at that coffee shop downtown from what I remember and it's pretty hard to forget someone you grew up with. But I haven't been in town for a while, so my memory might be a little fuzzy."

Now that she thought about it, that name did sound quite familiar. Almost as though she's met him before.

"Wait a minute... isn't Zane that jerk from high school and college?"

"He's not a jerk... eeh, sometimes," Vylad said. "He can be considerate when he wants to be, but it doesn't happen often."

"How so? The Zane I remember wasn't exactly the nicest or most approachable person."

"Well, I mean, he always gives off a rude emo-guy vibe but he's pretty nice once you get to know him. For me, we're siblings, so he had no choice but to tolerate me since we were under the same roof."

"But he was pretty nice when I met him in the coffee shop!"

"Yeah, but then again, he is on the clock and most waiters have to be nice to customers. But don't let that get you down; I'm sure he thinks you're cute!"

Nana was going to say more but Aphmau had just returned with three recyclable coffee cups for them.

"Alright, I'm back with the tea! Vylad, I wasn't sure which one you wanted, so I got you some packets of the ones I have."

"Aww, thank you!" He took the cup and a packet, tearing it open and placing the teabag inside. "But Kawaii~Chan, I think that you should try your luck with him. Who knows, he might have a thing for cute Mei'fwa."

"Did I miss something here?" Aphmau looked to Kawaii~Chan who looked to the side nervously and shrugged her shoulders. Of course, it came off as pretty suspicious considering she was only gone for a few minutes.

Soon enough, Vylad spoke up.

"Don't worry, KC! Zane's not the worst person you could have fallen for. You could have been with Garroth instead!"

Aphmau nearly spat out some of her drink as she snickered out loud. But then, the gears started to turn in her head as well.

"Wait a minute, are we talking Zane from high school?"

"Yup!"

"Really KC?"

"Okay, look!" She boomed, careful not to spill her cup of tea. "From what I know, he's not all that bad!"

"What do you mean 'not that bad'!? This is Zane we're talking about; the one who literally put us through hell for the last two years of high school! The one who still wore mascara after what, sophomore year and onward? It wasn't even applied right!"

"But he doesn't wear mascara anymore! Plus, I don't think he's that mean anymore, right Vylad?"

He nodded, taking a sip of his tea. "More or less so. Depends on the mood he's in that day."

Eventually, the conversation went back and forth between Aphmau and Nana; not arguing, but more so in a gossipy manner. Vylad didn't mind since he got to listen in on what was going on.

It was much like that for the rest of his time there with the two just sipping on tea; figuratively and literally.

She's made plans to go back to the shop at a later time, hopefully with a little more confidence this time around.

Let's hope it sticks with her.
