"Wait, wait, wait- let me get this straight."

Vylad clasped his hands together and took a deep breath. "You left her a note and didn't even put your name on it?"

The two brothers were having a quick morning chat before Zane was supposed to get ready to work. But a few past events had come up into conversation, the note on the coffee cup being one of them.

"Well, at least I made some attempt at getting her attention, right?" Zane muttered. "That's honestly the most anti-me thing I think I've ever done."

"Yeah, but stillー you can't expect her to automatically assume that it's you who wrote it to her."

"Do you expect me to be some Prince Charming and sweep her off her feet or something?"

"Okay, fair point," Vylad replied. "Nobody has the type of confidence Garroth has, but that doesn't mean you can't build confidence!"

"You should know by now that confidence is something I just don't have. Plus, it's not like I'm ever going to ask her out that way anytime soon."

"Now, leave me alone so I can get ready for work." He said, turning away to go towards the bathroom.

"You might as well. I'm not sure if you heard yet, but Mom's planning a neighborhood party in two weeks! You might as well ask the girl out so you won't bring home disappointment again!" Vylad yelled from the couch.

"Oh, shut up!" Zane yelled back from the bathroom.

"Me, with a date?"

"Psh, no way. How would I get a date, let alone hold one?" He thought to himself. "I would just make it more of a mess than it normally would be. I really should just focus on working, not whatever Vylad keeps pestering me about."

Zane spent his break time scrolling through his phone, admiring the artists he followed on Instagram that admittedly had a bit more talent than he did.

Just then, the door of the employee's room swung open, an audible whine following shortly after. He looked up from his phone to see a very annoyed Michi, which is never a good sight to see.

"Can you believe this?!" She grumbled, stomping her foot onto the ground angrily. "We're behind staff today since two people called out sick! And now we have to stick to shorter breaks and more work for no reason!"

"That's boss for you," He sighed, placing his phone down on the table.

Her rambling continued for a while as she hissed and complained under her breath. Luckily, his break would be over in a few minutes anyway, so he might as well start on something productive so he wouldn't have to do it later.

Grabbing his notepad, pen, and wooden serving tray, he made his way into the main area of the cafe. It wasn't too busy as most of the regulars have already gone on their way seeing as it was early in the afternoon now.

He looked out of the large windows of the cafe and saw Nana standing across the street waiting for the light to change. Their eyes met for a moment; she briefly waved at him sweetly and crossed the street.

His face turned red, and before he was able to wave back, the tiny woman he called his boss smacked him on the back. Zane jumped in surprise, now a little embarrassed by the seemingly knowing smile his boss wore.

"Get to working! Those customers aren't going to serve themselves!"

"Yes, Boss.." He spoke, a tad bit deflated.
