Error and Ink packed up early the next morning to search around the woods.

"First obvious rule," Error began. "We stick together. None of that splitting up bull." Ink nodded.

"Makes sense," She agreed. "We'll look around for tracks and signs of inhabitation while we search." Error nodded and smiled at her.

"My thoughts exactly."

Marrionette giggled quietly at the two victims as they wandered through the forest, looking for the princess.

"I've got no strings," She began. "To hold me down

To make me fret

Or make me frown

I had strings

But now I'm free

There are no

strings

on

me."

Ink looked up curiously as she heard a faint noise from the bushes. Error noticing her movement and followed her gaze.

"What is it Squid?" He asked. Ink shrugged.

"I dunno," Ink replied. "I just thought I heard something." Error frowned.

"You sure?" Ink shook her head.

"Not really. It could've been anything."

"Yeah but it could've been something so maybe you should go check it out." Ink shrugged again and moved towards where she heard the noise.

"There's nothing-" A squeak left her mouth as her body was thrown across the forest into the trees, knocking the breath out of her. She vaguely heard Error yell her name before he was knocked into her. A girl wearing a black mask and two axes on her back came walking out the trees, fidgeting with a pair of metal claws that replaced her hands.

"Oooo that must've hurt," She giggled. "But you should really get up. It's not healthy to just sit around when someone's trying to kill you." Error got up first, making sure to surround the area with blue strings then wrap them around the girl's waist. The girl giggled and drew out her axes. "Oh, so you're the marionettist Kaya warned me about." She lifted her axes above her head and grinned. "Too bad. I'm not gonna be your puppet that easily." Her weapons came slicing down onto her stomach, instantly snapping the strings but, somehow, not herself. Ink finally pulled herself up off the ground and pulled out her brush. She charged their attacker, moving to splash her with ink. She dodged, giggling at them, and immediately leapt up behind her, preparing to cut her with her axes. She stumbled as Ink rolled onto the ground and grunted.

"Wow, your reflexes are fast Marionettist," She said, impressed. Her arms and axes were tied tightly together by Error's strings, their blades mere millimetres from where Ink had been.

"Who the hell are you?" Error asked. The girl giggled.

"Oh me?" She giggled. "I'm the Marrionette." Error snarled and yanked at his strings, pulling her towards him.

"Ink now!" He yelled. Ink used the opportunity to change her ink to purple and cover Marrionette in it. It instantly stuck her together but she only smiled. Ink froze in realisation as she looked down at her brush. An axe was buried into its wood, tearing it apart and rendering it useless. Error's strings were gone too, all of them cut in half and hanging sadly from his fingertips. The ink fell off Marrionette's body, melting into the ground. She picked up her axes and held them at the pair's necks.

"Checkmate," She said, winking and giggling. "Poor Error and Inky. You've run out of moves to make. Unfortunately, I can't kill you so I guess I get to play." Stepping back, Marrionette giggled at their predicament, swinging her axes from side to side, making sure they swung near enough to force them back. "Oh this is so much fun," she giggled. "I should make you do something..." She tapped her chin, considering. "Ummm...oh!" She grinned at them. "I won't kill you if you two kiss." Ink felt herself blush and she stared at the girl.
