Namjoon had to stay at the Park residents that night, for his apartment was too far away. Soonmyeong, Jimin's mother, insisted that he hurry home to not get caught in the dark. Jinyong, his father, encouraged him to leave as well, hoping the suspicious man would just disappear.
The Parks have always distanced themselves from other church folk. Especially when Pastor Kim took it upon himself to unite the families through their sons. They assumed that the pastor's son was faltering in his faith, and they didn't want that for their Jiminie.
"Pops can get him gas in the morning, I'm sure. Just let him stay the night," Jimin attempted to persuade his law for parents. They didn't want to create a scene, so they gave in.
Later on, Jimin's parents left for extra hours at work. They were sure to do a run over the emergency numbers and rules.
"Namgyu will be here in about 30 minutes. Food is in the fridge, and your mother brought cake from work today. We'll be back in the morning," Jinyong informed his son as his wife and he stood at the door.
"As much as I love Uncle Namgyu, I don't need a babysitter. Plus, I'm 18 now. I can take care of myself," Jimin whined.
"I know, sweetie. But this isn't negotiable. See you in the morning." Soonmyeong spoke soft and sweetly, kissing her angel's forehead.
Jimin sighed in defeat, biding a quick goodbye. He was pretty used to this ordeal. His parents were almost never home. As parents, they understood that it burdened Jimin greatly by not being around, so they make it up to him by letting him do as he pleases. Don't get them wrong, the adore their ball of perfection with a passion. It's just, to them, their careers hold more value.
"Maybe I should go. I wouldn't want to impose on you and your uncle," Namjoon whispered lowly, rubbing the back of his neck with an unsure smile.
"No! What are you talking about? Uncle Namgyu loves you! He hasn't seen you in a while anyway," Jimin pouts, dramatically blocking the door like a starfish. He added hopefully," He misses you." That hadn't been a complete lie. Jimin's uncle was a very loving and socially active person. Everybody likes him. He and Namjoon got along really well.
Buuuuut Jimin missed him more.
Point blank.
No conversation needed.
Periodt.
Namjoon caved in instantly, eyes softening like room temperatured butter. The softest of its kind. Orbs brightening each second they held eye contact with the younger.
They had decided to start up a movie and divded the cake to eat during the duration of the film. Namgyu hadn't showed up until the very end of the third movie. When Jimin scolded him for being late, he defended himself saying,
"It was dominos at The Corner." Jimin laughed at his old man excuse, and Namgyu joined in on the festive gesture. He then greeted the awkward, normally smooth, college student," Don't be a stranger, Namjoon-ssi! Come give me a hug. It's been a minute since I've seen you. You've grown so handsome. How's that aunt of yours?" Namjoon smiled timidly. The affection perturbed him.
"She's doing just fine, Mr. Namgyu. Thank you. I've, uh, missed your presence as well."
"Drop the scholarly act, kid. You know you're like my distant nephew!" He pulled the poor boy into another bone-crushing embrace. "Let's play some games, yeah?"
"Dinner first, guys. And let him go! You're suffocating him!" Jimin interrupted, shaking his head with a smile, tiny fists on his hips. They agreed, so the youngest fished out whatever his busy mother had conjured up probably in a haste.
The seating was awkward. Jimin wanted to sit next to Namgyu who sat at the end of the long-ish table. It seated 8 people. Namjoon couldn't sit in front of Jimin. He refused to. So he sat next to him. He had to, literally, lean into Jimin's shoulder to speak properly with Namgyu. This didn't bother Jimin, but it surely didn't go unnoticed. Especially when Namjoon's arm rested at the back of Jimin's chair, unconsciously playing with the back of his hair. This meaningless interaction was also noticed by Namgyu. He knew the boys were close but...oddly close. He tried to not think much of it, but there was an ongoing question mark in his head that he couldn't quite understand.
After dinner, they played Monopoly with Twilight: Breaking Dawn in the background. Namjoon was whipping their asses to say the least. Namgyu was barely upholding himself and Jimin...poor Jimin. He was 26,200 dollars in debt.
"There's no redeeming myself from this. I'm going to make some hot chocolate. Uncle, you want your regular with cinnamon?" Jimin asked, getting up from the floor, making way to the kitchen. Namgyu nods, glaring at Namjoon's property that he refused to land on. "Namjoon?"
"I'm alright, thank you," Namjoon politely declined. "I never did question how things were holding up at work, Chim."
"Oh, well, since Jin hyung is long gone, I've had to take up a lot of his work which leave me exhausted when I finally get home. But Taehyung and Jungkook help me out a lot," Jimin informs, grabbing mugs and what not to make to warm drinks.
"That's good. I'm glad you guys are doing well. If you need an extra hand, I got you," Namjoon joked, winking at the younger. In his response, Jimin rolled his eyes,
"As if. You'd be fired the first week for breaking half the dishes and somehow managing to set the kitchen on fire."
"I don't understand. I mean, I'm not that clumsy." Jimin raised a brow with a smirk,
"Jackson sent me a video of you getting your fingers tied while tying your shoe laces."
"That son of-"
"Let's not forget about that one time we were doing karaoke, and he cut himself with the microphone," Namjoon sourly chimed in. He owed the rest of his money to Namjoon.
"And here's the kicker. You almost burned my kitchen down from making s'mores! And that was just last year!" Jimin exclaimed, throwing his arms in the air. "Freaking god of destruction, I swear."
"Destroy that fucking ass," Namjoon barely whispered aloud.
"What?" Oops.
"I said,' Don't...give me sass.'"
Best save in fucking history.
