I anxiously walked through the school gates into a vast yard with other people my size, smaller and bigger than me all around. One thing was for sure though, they were cleverer than I was, even if they had a learning disability or not.
It was so weird. I was expecting people to come up to me because they know who I am, but no one was. Instead, people just carried on chatting to their mates like I was invisible to everyone else.
The bell called, making me jump out my skin. I grabbed my lessons. book and got the map and timetable put. English. First lesson. My greatest test. I walked towards English, trying to look like everyone else, chatty a d happy, but it wasn't working. I couldn't do it.
My English class was the bottom one, filled with loads of kids my age with their books out and pencil cases too. "You're the new student, aren't you?" The teacher asked. I nodded my head. "Scared?" She asked. "What do you think?" I murmured so she didn't hear me. "Class, listen up please!" She yelled. Every started quietening down and looking at me. "We have a new student. She is called Alva and it wold be appreciated of you spent your time doing work instead of asking her questions" she turned to me. "You can sit on the spare seat at the back" she said, pointing at it. I walked over, conscious of the fact everyone was looking at me. Time to show the teacher my very shaky grasp of English
"Today we are going to carry on with our poems class. So get your books pt and start rhyming words, same for you, Alva, I think you can write a poem" the teacher said. I stated at my piece of paper. What was rhyming? I had no clue and the teacher had no clue either. Everyone was scribbling away or looking through their books. I was utterly lost.
At the end of the lesson, we handed in our books. I handed in mine and the teacher stared at me in disbelief. "This is simply not good enough! You've done nothing all lesson. Detention!" She shrieked at me. I ran off quickly before she could yell at me anymore. School was so confusing. Next I had my drama lesson, so I carried on running in that direction until I tripped and fell over. I looked up. A boy about my age was looking at me and laughing. "Someone's eager!" He laughed to his friends. Then suddenly my someone else stepped in. "Hey leave her alone, Jake, what's wrong with you?" He said to them in really high pitched voice. Did the have a new friend?
Hours later of misunderstanding and confusion, Felix picked me up from school. "Hey Alva! Good day today?" Felix asked me. I looked at him properly. How could I lie to him? "No! I didn't understand anything, I got five detentions and made two people hate me!" I said, sobbing into him. "Don't worry, it just takes time" he said. "Time can't solve everything!" I yelled at him. I felt confused, I felt alone, I felt scared.
Hey guys! How've you all been? Let me know what you what to have or whether you want a part or not? I'll see you all later!
