Melrose grew up in a home that was happy. She was always at the top of her class and working hard for anything she got. Her brother is always very protective of her. Melrose has been in a few bad relationships were they hit her, but she always got out of them quickly. She went to college to get her nursing degree and she is the charge nurse in the Emergency Room. She met Lucifer through Dan and Chloe. Melrose is still very close to Chloe, who has practically been her best friend for a long time. Lucifer would flirt with her and Melrose would flirt back some just for fun, but never imagined anything come of it. One time, Lucifer came to her hospital with Chloe on the case and Melrose ended up having to yell at him to get out the way as he was blocking the care of the patient. He was shocked that she didn't just want to flirt with him. He ended up finding that admiring. Melrose does like Lucifer but she doesn't want someone just to jump into bed with. Melrose met Maze and two of them became friends over time. The two are very close now.
