France's eyes change colour depending on his state of mind. His normal eye is diamond blue, this signals that he is calm and his usual canon self. His eyes get closer to purple if he gets angry or depressed. This is usually caused by thoughts of the past, mainly the french revolution. If it gets to black, then only someone close to him will be able to get him to a stable state. It's usually England, Canada or s/o who can calm him when he gets like this. The time to get him back to normal can range from a week to a month.
