Frisk's POV//

"Hey, wait up!" I shout out to my sister Chara with a small laugh. She had managed to get ahead of me on our trek about Mt. Ebott.

Mt. Ebott was our favorite place to go to when we needed space from everything around us, or when we wanted to clear our minds for a bit. It was the place where our beloved legend took place. The legend of the underground, where monsters were stuck within this very land by a barrier placed by us humans after the war. Chara and I were fascinated by this legend when we were children, and Mt. Ebott grew to be our favorite place.

"It's not my fault you're a slowpoke," Chara joked.

"Hurry up, c'mon it's starting to get chilly out here," Chara shivered and pulled on the sleeve to my sweater.

"Okay okay, we can head ba—oh my gosh look Chara look!"

"What? What is it?!"

"It's one of those really rare golden flowers! I need to get a closer look," I pointed towards the single, golden flower that glowed within the pretty light of the rapidly setting sun.

Chara shot me a look of disapproval.

"You mean a dandelion? Can we please just go back now? It's cold out here Frisk," Chara whined.

"No! Just start on without me. It's not like you'll get lost. I just want to see it. I promise I'll catch up with you," I begged.

"Okay fine, I'll see you when you get back," Chara said. She didn't hesitate to start her way back.

I smiled and made my way over to the bright, golden flower.

"Oh wow, you're beautiful!"

All of a sudden, I realized there was a huge patch of these flowers barely fifteen or so yards from where I stood to my left.

I squealed with excitement as I began to make my way over. I failed to notice that there were many small holes everywhere. That is, until my foot got caught in one and I was sent flying into the darkest ditch I had ever seen.

All I saw for a moment was darkness.

And then?

Pain.

Pain everywhere.

I opened my eyes once I recalled what had happened moments before I passed out. I sat up and tried to stand, but just ended up back on the ground. I looked down and realized if it wasn't for the patch of golden flowers I had landed on, I probably would've died, or at least broken quite a few bones.

In attempt to find an exit, I found only darkness—and a single flower. This flower was similar to the golden flowers I was on, but it seemed to have a face.

Surely it was just the fall that was messing with my brain. Flowers don't have faces.

And then it talked.

"Hiya! Are you okay? Do you know where you are? I'm Flowey, by the way. Flowey the flower!" Flowey asked.

'What the fuck?'

I finally stood up, trying really hard to regain my balance.

"U-um yeah I think I'm okay. I'm not sure where I am though," I answered. I still couldn't really believe I was speaking to a talking flower. Underground. I wonder what Chara would say right now.

Oh my gosh. Chara. Oh, shit oh shit oh shit!

"Well, lucky for you," Flowey motioned for my name.

"Frisk."

"Lucky for you, Frisk, I'm here to help! You've fallen into the world of monsters. The underground, we call it," Flowey explained.

There was an eerie silence that followed, as I was at a loss of words.

"But, I must say. In this world, it'S KILL OR BE KILLED," Flowey's voice deepened and his expression darkened. He had a maniacal laugher that arose when he saw the fear in my eyes. Tears began to well up in my eyes, and I began to fear for my life.

Before anything could progress any further, a faint fire ball of some sort came from behind Flowey and hit him. He disappeared into the ground in a whimper and a goat monster showed herself.

I was preparing myself for the worst when she ran at me.

She hugged me and spoke, "Oh, my child, are you  alright? Did he hurt you?"

The tears that had threatened to spill before ran down my face at full force when I realized she was protecting me, not hurting me.

"I'm fine, just spooked I-I think," this kind monster helped me up and checked me all over frantically for any obvious injuries. I was grateful, but still in shock.

"Good. I am Toriel, caretaker of the ruins. And I want to help you. Come with me,"

"My name is Frisk."

"Follow me Frisk and I will get you all set up, my child," Toriel said and guided me through the ruins until we reached what I presumed was her house.

When I stepped inside, the sweet smell of cinnamon filled the air. I yawned and Toriel smiled at me. She motioned for me to follow, so I did. She led me to a room that she said I could call my own and I did not hesitate to barge in after I hugged Toriel.

~

Almost instantly I was sinking into the comfortable bed and falling asleep.

I awoke to the lovely sent of cinnamon again, though this time it seemed like it was right below me. I moved to the edge of the bed and looked down. Sure enough, there was a plate of some sort of pie along with a fork. My stomach seemed to be making the rumblies, so I helped myself to the slice that now sat in my lap. It was a very delicious cinnamon butterscotch pie.

Once I was finished, I grabbed my dirty plate and fork and made my way back into the hallway where I had entered Toriel's house. I kept walking forward and spotted Toriel reading in a sofa by a lit fireplace. The room was cozy and warm.

"Ah! Goodmorning, Frisk. I see you bring an empty plate. I do hope you liked the pie?" Toriel seemed eager to hear my response.

"It was absolutely delicious! I'm actually not usually one for pie, but I have to say this was just amazing," I shot Toriel the biggest smile I could muster. She returned the gesture. I walked into the small, yet very tidy kitchen and placed my dishes in the sink.

I then made my way over to Toriel to talk to her for awhile.

~

We talked for what seemed like forever. I knew moments after I met Toriel that she would be someone that I would always want in my life. And I couldn't be any more certain now that I could always go to her, for anything. I know that she'd do basically anything to protect me now. I know that she actually loves me, as if I were her own child. And I know that I love her too. She's the type of motherly figure I want to be if I ever have children of my own. I've only known Toriel for like a day and yet talking to her was so easy, I knew I could trust her.

"I hate to say this but, I do have to go and run a few errands, my child. But we can definitely continue to talk when I come home, if that is something you wish to do, Frisk," Toriel stood from her sofa and put the book that rested in her lap back in its place on the shelf.

I stood from the chair I sat on and returned it to its place in the dinner table.

"Oh yes of course! I really enjoyed talking to you," I smiled.

"So did I, Frisk. Remember to make yourself completely at home, and remember what I told you, Frisk." With that, Toriel was out the door.
