Chara's POV//

"What the hell is taking her so damn long?" I scoffed to myself.

I hadn't fully made my way back down the mountain because I knew Frisk liked going back together, but she sure was taking forever. I stood beside the tree that I had been standing at for awhile now and decided I would just suck it up and make my way back to Frisk and drag her ass down the mountain myself.

I'm sure I groaned every step of the way back but it's not like I bothered anyone because there wasn't anyone to bother around us. After what seemed like ages during the chilly night, I made it all the way back to the clearing where Frisk spotted her stupid flowers.

"Frisk?" I decided to shout, as I couldn't seem to find her anywhere in the open space that lay before my eyes.

All I could see was a patch of those yellow flowers, and a really big ditch.

"Frisk, where the hell are you?" I kept calling out to her, but nobody answered.

'The ditch.'

'There's no way she could've fallen in, right? Frisk knows to be careful. She wouldn't have been clumsy enough to fall in, right?'

Adrenaline started to rush throughout my body as panic started to set in. I made my way over to the ditch crept my way to its edge. I stared down into it but couldn't see a damn thing. Just pitch black.

'Dammit Frisk, if I go down there and I don't find you, you're gonna get it when I do find you.'

As carefully as I possibly could , I slid down the sloped edges of the sides of the ditch and tried to make my way down as slowest as possible.

Definitely easier said than done.

As I made my way down, I held onto anything I could reach. After what seemed like yet another decade, I could make out a faint light below me. My arms were starting to feel really sore from hanging onto the walls. Once I felt I was close enough to the ground to make a safe landing, I jumped down and landed nearby a patch of those yellow flowers.

Looking around, I couldn't make out much in the poorly lit area that I stood in beside the flower patch, which looked like it had been sat on or stomped on.

My heart felt heavy when I realized it was probably Frisk's body that caused the imprint on the flowers.

Anger raged through my body when I also realized this was my fault. I chose to leave Frisk myself. I chose to walk away. For all I knew, Frisk could be badly injured and afraid for her life right now.

Tears started to well up in my eyes but I refused to let them spill. I composed myself and tried to call out for Frisk again. Once again, nobody answered.

And then I heard them. I heard the footsteps.

"Frisk are you alright?" the tears stared to roll down my face when I heard the footsteps grow closer and closer to me.

"Hello?" a voice that was unrecognizable to me called from the direction of the footsteps.

"Frisk? Please, tell me that's you."

"Why do you call out for a Frisk?" the voice emerged from the darkness just enough for me to see the figure. It kept its distance and made it hard for me to see it clearly.

It was no human.

"What the hell are you?!" any composure I may have had escaped my body in a matter of seconds.

"My child, do not be afraid, I am To—"

"WHAT-WHAT ARE YOU?" my vision was blurry from the tears that continued to roll down my face but I didn't care. I pulled the pocket knife I always carried around with me from my back pocket and hid it within my hands.

"I am Toriel, and I—" the monster came closer to me.

My adrenaline at full force took over and I charged at the goat monster. Fear took over its eyes and it tried to dodge but I think I cut its arm because all I could hear were its screams.

"My child, please, I am not looking for a fight," I just knew it was lying.

"NO! WHAT DID YOU DO TO FRISK?!" My voice was laced with rage.

I seemed to charge at it again though this time it protected itself and shot out a fireball at me. I was unable to dodge it and it hit me. I felt a burning pain on my stomach where the ball had hit me. The air was literally knocked out of me and I collapsed.

"Please tell me why you call out for a Frisk! Are you trying to harm her?!"

I stood and regained myself.

"Why on earth would you say something like that?! I could never hurt her! I'm not a monster!" I charged at it yet again but caught it by surprise that time.

Diving at it with my knife in hand, I hit it.

It gasped for air, and said "Please, my child, please, don't hurt her. No, you don't get to hurt her," it was still desperately gasping for air but it seemed like it didn't reach its lungs.

I myself was trying to pant for air when out of the corner of my eye I see the monster's figure start to disintegrate right from thin air. However, what I didn't see coming were the many fireballs it had mustered to form and launch at me. I didn't see them until it was too late for me to do anything.

Pain.

Just pain, everywhere on my body.

I fell, and the last sight I caught of the monster was it turning into dust.
