"What?"

Coles brown eyes stared back at with an emotion I couldn't place, "I was in rehab."

"For what?"

"The usual." He said and unmuted the T.V.

I grabbed the remote from him and muted the T.V. "What exactly is the usual Cole?" My tone was menacing.

He shrugged, who did he think he was? Elliott?

"Drinking, ya know, some drugs."

"Drugs?!" My eyes shot open, DRUGS?

"Oh calm down, nothing too hard."

"If it wasn't hard you wouldn’t have gone to rehab!" I said , now kneeling on the couch facing him.

If Cole was at rehab, and Elliott met Cole during that time frame then did that mean Elliott was in rehab too?
I remembered that Elliott said he had been volunteering at a hospital and that was the reason he was still in high school, did that mean he had been volunteering to help people like Cole?

My heart swelled, and it was odd, I had never felt that before. I felt proud of him.

"I just did pot alright? My parents over reacted when they found some molly in my room."

"Molly?!" That wasn't a soft drug, hell Molly is a freaking neurotoxic!

"Relax will you? I was just holding it for a friend."

Now that made me mad, what kind of idiot did he think I was?

"Cole do you think I'm stupid?" I said in a low tone, "Because I'm not, I know what that’s code for!"

"It isn't code for anything!" He said and he looked mad.

"Then why the fuck did you have it?!"

"Because I was holding it for a friend!"

I huffed loudly and let myself fall back on his couch, my arms crossed, "Sure you were." I muttered.

A few seconds later Cole followed suit and unmuted the television.

I grabbed the remote from where it rested on his lap and muted it again.

"Cole we are going to talk about this."

"No Riley we aren't." He ripped the remote from my hand and I clenched my jaw, rude.

He settled into his corner and crossed his arm, gripping the remote in a deathly hold  he unmuted the television for the last time and settled on watching The Desperate Housewives of New Jersey.

I rolled my eyes at him but sat on the couch non the less, I did not want to go home, call me a coward but confrontation was not my forte.

I picked up my phone and checked Elliott's texts.

Are you okay? -Elliott

CALL ME - Elliott

I decided that now was as good a time as ever to text him back.

I'm fine, don’t worry - Riley

His reply was instantaneous.

Why aren't you at school? Bridget said you didn’t come home last night, she's worried- Elliott

Of course she is, I thought bitterly.

I'm not in the mood for educating myself today, where are you? - Riley
