Chapter 7: A brother that I didn't know existed

"Hiya Dad," I said, greeting him on video cam in my normal accent. Since my mum was Australian, I picked up her accent and every now and then, it would slip up. For example, when someone or something gets me angry.

"Hey, Skitty," he said. There was a reason why my dad calls me that was because of a little incident back when I was three. "How's it going?"

"Great. I'm on my journey and I left Nevema Town a few days ago."

"That's awesome. What's your new pokemon? A Snivy? A Tepig? An Oshawatt?" I shook my head to all of them. I picked Gina up from my shoulder and held her in my arms.

"Dad, this is Gina, my pokemon that chose me." I said.

"What in the name of pokemon is that?" His eyes looked astonished when he saw Gina.

"She's a Zigzagera. Is Mum with you or is she busy with her pokemon?" I asked.

"I'm right here, darling." I heard a voice in the background. Mum came into view and she was still beautiful as ever, even in her 50s style outfit.

"Your mother just won the Grand festival," said Dad, wrapping his arms around her. I was stunned. My mum just won the Grand festival in Hoenn.

"And your father just won the Hoenn league." Mum added.

"Congrats guys." I said. I felt ashamed that I wasn't there with them.

"So darling, how's your journey coming? " Mum asked.

"I've made a couple of new friends and we are on our way to Striaton City." I replied.

"Can we meet them or are they sleeping?" Dad asked.

I knew that Ash and Iris were eavesdropping on our conversation, so I called, "Guys, I knew you were there the whole time. Come and meet my parents." They came out and came over.

"Hey, I'm Ash," Ash said.

"And I'm Iris." She added.

"So Ash, how's your mom?" My dad asked. My eyes widened.

"How do you know my mom?" He asked. "I mean, we've only just met."

"Uh... I met her while we were in Kanto." He said unsure. Dad knew about something that I didn't.

"Dad, I got two things to tell you,"

"Fire away."

"1. I can hear pokemon voices and 2. You're hiding something that I would like to know." I stated. Dad never got away with something that he knew about and I didn't when I'm talking to him.

Dad sighed and looked at Mum.

"Honey, I can hear pokemon voices too and was about your age when I learned about it." explained Mum.

"Is it a like genetic thing where I inherit it like Dad's raven hair?" I asked.
She nodded.

"Now the second. Dad?"

"Here goes nothing," he muttered to himself. "AK, Ash. Both of you are half-siblings."

Ash and I are half-siblings? I was stunned. So was Ash, Iris, and even Pikachu and Gina.

"How?" We all asked at the same time.

"Okay. I married your mother, Ash and we got into a disagreement. So we got a divorce and I left. Then I heard that Ash was born and I went to Kalos. There I met May and married her. We traveled together for a few years and then had you. Since you were still young when you were three, we traveled to Unova and you stayed at Hilda's until you were old enough."

I felt like I was going to yell. "Darling, calm down" said Mum. "At least you understand now."

Her words sounded smooth and I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned my head to see Ash, giving me a reassuring smile. I smiled back and turned to face my parents.

"So then, instead of Alicia Kit, what is it now? Alicia Ketchum?" I asked.

"No, sweetheart, it's still Alicia Kit but now you know." Mum said.

We stood there in silence while I let the all my emotions explode inside me. "Well, we better get going." Mum said, breaking the silence. "We got a long road ahead of us."

"Where are you guys heading now?" I asked.

"It's a surprise, darling. Are you ready?" She asked.

I nodded.

"Ready for what?" asked Iris.

"You'll see." I said. Mum and I did our secret goodnight handshake and song:

I blew her a kiss and she did the same. I caught it and pulled close to my heart.

"Good night, my love." she said and then the screen went black.

I stared at it and Ash said to me softly, "Come on AK, we better get a good night's sleep."

I nodded. I followed them back to the room and let Gina sleep with me. But I couldn't get to sleep after what Dad said that me and Ash are...family!
