In school, people avoid me like the plague, but my dad sticks to me like one.

"Amara, who is tha-" I cut him off before he could finish.

"Drive." I whispered, my voice barely audible.

And he did.

Drive. That one word that triggered a thousand actions.

I watched my surroundings pass, every mile away I get from him, the lighter the weight I'm holding feels. Shawn hasn't asked me anything except for the occasional, "You gotta pee" charming isn't he.

Shawn P.O.V.

I'm honestly so confused.

1. There's a man at my house whom I don't know

2. Amara knows this man

3. We are driving to the middle of nowhere.

4. we are running out of gas and there are no gas stations within 50 miles

So my situation isn't the greatest. Amara hadn't said anything to me about who he is, or why she can't get away from him, or why we are driving past Toronto, and heading towards the states.

"I know you want to get away from whoever that is, but we are running out of gas, and do not have passports to get to America so." I blurted while pulling over to the side of the road. She bit her lip, shook her head, and wept. she wept for what seemed like hours, and I attempted to help, but every time I put my arm around her, she would slap it away like a second grader afraid of cooties.

"Just go back." she whimpered. I shrugged and flipped the car around.

Amara P.O.V.

When we got back to shawns, the devil was gone, but sitting where he had stood, was a note, and a bullet.

Dear backstabbing daughter,

I have come to the conclusion that you don't want me in your life, and as you can see, that is unacceptable. I have custody, and I ain't dead, so you have no right to be prancing around with this shithead. Next time I see you, that brass bullet will be in your skull.
