Chapter 27

I shut my locker and start walking out of school to head home, but I'm too lucky for that and Betty stops me. "You are going to homecoming with Jason?!" She question shouts at me. I roll my eyes.

"Yes Betty, as FRIENDS!" I say close to her face. She steps back.

"Did you forget when you two dated for like a week?" Betty asks.

"Yeah and he was an ass, but I don't think he's was a child then and he's grow a lot," I explain crossing my arms.

"Stella," she gives me a confused look. "It's been a year?"

"Yeah, and he's had six girlfriends since. Remember him and that girl from the other school, Gwen Stacey, went out for a long time," I say.

"Gwen Stacey broke up with him after like three months," Betty says. I nod raising my eyebrows.

"That's a long time these days in the dating world," I say keeping my nod consistent. Betty rolls her eyes. "Look Betty I know you are concerned, but he my friend and needed a date. And now I can come to your house and take pictures with a date," I say moving pass her to walk home.

"Peter's apartment," she says quickly. I stop walking and turn around to look at her.

"What?" I ask. She turns quickly with her eyes wider than usual.

"Peter's Aunt wanted to make us a dinner and Ned had said he'd go before we were dating and I wanna be fair and be withNed and his friends since they won't dance anyway so I'll spend the rest of the night with Flash and we are going to Jason's after anyway," Betty explains quickly. "So I thought-

"Betty Betty," I say quickly as she rambles on about being fair to Ned and make their love stronger. "It's fine," I say.

"So are you coming?" She asks. That's not where I thought this was going at all.

"You still want Jason and I there? At Parker's apartment?" I ask. She nods growing a smile.

"Of course I can't miss pictures with my bestie," she says with her bubbliness showing.

"We can just get them and the dance," I say. I notice Peter suddenly appears down the hall walking with Ned and MJ. Betty sees it distracted and turns around.

"Oh great idea I'll go ask," she says. She runs off down the hall.

"What no, Bet-" I stop as she already to Peter and his friends. I sigh and walk down the hall.

"Come on it's just two more people," Betty says. Ned looks at Peter as if to make him say yes. "Neddy Bear I need perfect pictures with Stella or our friendship will seem fake." I walk up behind her.

"Betty no one will think that," I say to her. "Parker probably doesn't want that many-

"No no, it's fine," he says interrupting me. His voice is a little higher and he clears his throat. "It's fine," he says deeper. "I'll, um, let my aunt know." Betty squeals.

"Oh my god thank you Peter!" She says excitedly. "Told you nobody would care."

"I think someone might," I say seeing Jason outside as if he's waiting for someone.

"Just go ask him," Ned says. "Jason always seemed real understanding."

I get a text and look down and see it's from Harry. I haven't heard from him in awhile wonder why he is texting.

Your dad said you don't have a date to your dance? Want to go with a friend? Might be fun.

I show Betty who starts laughing a little. "Oh my god Stella. How tragic two boys asked you to the dance," she says as we walk out of school.

"I already said yes to Jason," I say a little sad. As if on cue I feel an arm wrap around me as we get outside. I look and see Jason. "Hi," I say dryly and confused.

"I thought we'd be able to discuss the color you are wearing," he says. He drags me away from everyone else and starts saying how he already has a tux. I look back and see Peter looking at us.

"Peter?"MJ asks a little down the sidewalk. He perks up and looks over at her rushing the opposite direction.
