It was a month into our Magcon event and things were dying down in time for our week long break. It was Friday and we were all going home on Sunday.
"Babe, let's do something productive until the event tonight," Nash came into the living room from the bathroom. I set my book and tea down to turn towards him.
"What do you have in mind?" We hadn't been on a date in a while so this was exciting for me.
"What about a picnic on the beach? You could bring your swim suit and stuff," He said as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"I would like that. When should we leave?" I asked.
"Maybe like 10 minutes or so," he turned to the door.
"Ok. I'll be at your door in 11 minutes," I called after him. He raised his hand letting me know he heard but didn't really care and slammed the door. He had been acting weird for the past couple of days. I had already tried figuring out what was going on but he always changed the subject. I shrugged it off for the third time today and went to my suit case to find my bathing suit. I picked out a floral, strapless swimsuit top with matching bottoms, high-waisted jean shorts and a white, flowy cardigan. I slipped on my new pair of Jesus sandals and some Ray Bans. Putting my phone and wallet into a leather satchel, I walked out the door with my room key. I walked down the hall to Nash, Hayes and Cameron's room and knocked on the door six times and yelled,
"DO YOU WANNA BUILD A SNOWMAN!?" The door opened quickly and Hayes came out.
"NO!" He yelled back and closed the door. He opened it a few seconds later.
"What do you need?" He asked.
"I'm going on a date with Nash..." I twisted a strand of hair around my finger.
"I'm here, keep your pants on," Nash came running up to the door. He stuck his tongue out at Hayes and closed the door. He grabbed my hand and we walked to the elevators. I clicked the button that takes us down to the lobby and we waited until the elevator started moving.
"Why have you been so distant the past couple of days?" I asked a few moments later.
"I've just had a few things to think about lately," Nash's shoulders fell slightly. I wrapped my arms around him and set my head against his chest. He laid his head on top of mine and we sat there until the elevator dinged. I turned around and grabbed his hand before running out to the car. I feel bad for George. We all use George whenever we need anything. He says that it's fine but I think we should start using Uber from now on. He drove all the way down to the beach. Nash held my hand loosely in his and stared out the window the whole ride down. When he got out, I slightly frowned, my hand was cold now. I opened the door and followed Nash down to where he was spreading out a blanket. I saw him pull out a bag of sandwiches, chips, Dr. Pepper and pickles. I slid my shoes off and sat on the blanket. Nash handed me a sandwich. My favorite in fact; Nutella on white bread. I smiled slightly and bit into it. I closed my eyes and smiled.
"Do you want a bite?" I opened my eyes and saw nothing but Nash.
"Do you want a piece?" Nash had said at the exact same time.
"A piece of what?" I asked.
"Me." Nash said and bit into his sandwich; peanut butter and honey on wheat. I giggled and pushed his shoulder slightly.
"Wanna go out there?" he said, while pointing to the ocean. I nodded and stood up. I pulled off my shorts and cardigan and ran. I jumped in the water and turned around. Nash came flying at me and knocked us both down to the sandy bottom.
"I feel like this always happens to us," I informed him after we finished laughing. We played around in the water for and hour or so and finished our food. I checked my phone for the first time on this date.
