chapter ten:

"an alien came to earth"

"and what is that" she says pointing to echo that was hiding inside of alexs shirt

"um, it's a- it's a car muffler" tuck quickly makes up, heading towards the door before she quickly closes it

"no. I want to know what that is." she persisted

"itt's actually a spaceship" munch sighs out

"munch!" alex yells out of disbelief

emma stares at them unamused and turns to me "ashley?" she questions

"uh well... we were following these maps and it just happened to lead here. and now we're trying to help our friend echo-- well he's actually an alien- and we're trying to get him on a ship." I begin slowly, then quickly started rambling

"see look, it used to have six symbols. but now it only has three, so that means we're almost there. crazy huh?" I let it all slip out. I glance at the boys and I could tell they were mad

emma turns on the her light, "an alien came to earth to give you guys maps?" she questions, not believing me

"nope." alex retorts

"no" we hear echo chirp. I look over to alex as he tries to put echo in his bag, "you did not just see that."

"yeah, I did"

"yeah, she defiantly saw it." I agree, knowing there was no way anyone could miss it

"wait" she says closing the door before we could leave

"I want to go." emma states, crossing her arms across her chest

"really that's great-" I exclaim, excited my best friend would be coming along

"-no. just because your friends with ashley doesn't automatically mean you're apart of our group" I stare at alex in shock, what makes him think he could talk to her like that.

"so why don't you just go drag ashley along away from us like you always do and go play with all your super hot rich guy friends..." he continues, adjusting his backpack straps

"that's harsh" tuck whispers to me

"yeah, no kidding" I reply, crossing my arms over my chest hoping you couldn't see the fumes coming from out my ears

"and you're ball gowns and just go eat steak or something." he finishes, beginning to push past her, grabbing onto my wrist as he does so

"I'm sorry" I mouth out to her as I was pulled out of the room

as soon as we existed the house I yanked my hand from his grip "what the hell alex!"

"what?" he questions as if he didn't do anything

" oh go play with your hot rich friends and eat some amazing steak" I mimic, throwing my hands around, "do you even know how mean that was!"

"look, i'm sorry" he apoliagizes, walking towards me with his arms open waiting for a hug

I let out a sarcastic chuckle, "no!" I push his arms away, "telling her to go drag me along? you know, that kinda hurt me too. she's my best friend!" I explain, clearly letting my emotions out, just like he did

"ashl-" he begins, eyes wide

"save it." I scoff, pushing passed him. I get on my bike and tried to pay no attention to the boys talking about what happened

"is she really mad?" tuck asks confused

" she doesn't get mad often, but when she does she gets pissed" munch responds

there was a silence between the boys as they waited for alex to explain himself, "well, you did snap at her best friend" munch reasons

tuck nods, "well you do know, if you don't get along with we friends you guys can't really date."

"don't even go there dude, I'll get her back." alex mumbles

as if he thought it was gonna be that easy
