Chapter 9: Revelations

{Lauren's POV}

I woke up confused with an arm around me. No, that can't be right. My eyes shot open. I was staring at my bunk across the bus and noticed the arm around my waist. This was Joey's arm. This can't be happening. How did I get into his bunk? I thought.

Then, Joey started to stir. He pulled her closer, and like he used to do, pressed a kiss to her head.

How am I supposed to get out of bed without waking Joey? I doubt he even knows I'm here, but he will definitely realize it if I wake him up.

I slowly grabbed his arm and moved it over so it was no longer on me. I quietly swung my legs over the edge of the bunk being careful not to make any noise. My efforts failed and the bed creaked. Joey started to wake up.

"Lauren?" he asked. His eyes shot open in surprise. "What were you doing in my bunk? You crawled in last night, but i didn't want to move you. I tried to stay away, but I guess that didn't work. I'm so sorry, Lo."

I finally made it out of his bed and turned around crossing my arms and staring down at my feet. "No, it was my fault. This is your bunk and somehow I ended up in it with you. I must have sleep walked over. It's just a habit to be in the same bed as you, I guess. I looked up and realized that he wasn't wearing a shirt. I forgot that he slept like that. It reminded me of the first time we slept in the same bed together. He was so warm and he held me close, never wanting to let go. Oh, how times can change.

I heard Brian groan from the next bunk over and grumble, "Shut up you two. I'm trying to sleep."

I whispered sorry and motioned for Joey to come out into the bus's living room with me. Once he had pulled on a shirt he joined me and we took a seat on the couch.

"We need to talk," I said. "This can't happen again, Joey. It's too much for me." Tears started to form in my eyes as I looked away from him, not wanting to face him.  "We broke up for a reason. I can't keep coming back to you like this. It's not healthy."

Joey grabbed my hand. I tuned back to face him and noticed a sadness in his eyes. Eventually he spoke. "I knew that this tour was going to be rough. I was so nervous to see you again knowing that we would have to go back to life before we were dating. The problem is, Lo, I can't go back to that time. I miss who I was when we were together."

"I miss who I was too. You made me a better and happier person, and not that we aren't together, it's hard trying to figure out who I am without you," I responded. Tears were streaming down my face. "It's been a really hard few months, JoJo. I missed you so much."

"I missed you too. I thought that it would be easier being apart, but I realized that I'm much better with you than without you. I still love you, Lo," Joey said.

"I love you too, Joey, but the distance was too much. How would it be any different than it was?"

"Well, to start, we're spending a whole month together now. At the end of the tour, we can talk about the next steps in our relationship. I love you too much to let you go again," Joey responded.

"I don't know. I mean, I want too, but I'm afraid of getting hurt again. It broke me not being able to be with you. I don't want that again," I explained. That was the truth. Our break up was awful, and I can't handle that again. But something was pulling me towards Joey. It was the same force that originally brought me to him. We work so well together, it was just the distance that hurt us.

"Lauren?" Joey asked and I looked up into his beautiful brown eyes. "I'm never going to hurt you again. I promise you that."

"Okay."

"Okay?"

"Okay, we can get back together. I missed you so much and I promise not to hurt you again," I said.

A smile crept up on Joey's face and he quickly glanced over at my lips. I leaned over towards him and his lips met mine. Slowly, our lips moved together as we became comfortable again. It was just like riding a bike. He wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me closer to him and my arms went around his neck, playing with his hair. He picked me up and sat me on his lap as we continued making out.

I don't know how long we were sitting on the couch making out before I heard a squeal come from the door.

"Oh my gosh! Are you guys back together?" Jaime said from the doorway. Joey and I broke away from each other, blushing.

"Um yeah," I said, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. I looked over at Joey. His hair was disheveled from our make out session. I made eye contact with Jaime finally and she was grinning from ear to ear.

She squealed from excitement again prompting Meredith to get out of bed and check on us.

"Meredith, Joey and Lauren are back together!" she exclaimed, jumping up and down. "I knew it would happen.

Meredith congratulated us and both she and Jaime gave us hugs. Joey and I snuggled back together for a little longer before we decided that we were hungry.

"I heard about a bakery down the road that has gluten free pastries. Should we take a walk there and bring back breakfast for everyone?" I asked Joey.

"I've never heard a better idea," he responded and gave me a quick kiss before putting on his shoes.

We walked hand in hand to the bakery, and after picking up a dozen pastries, we started the walk back to the bus. It was so natural walking with him and holding him close. Just like old times. I looked up at him as we were walking and smiled.

Joey noticed me looking at him and said, "What?" He smirked.

"Oh, nothing. You're just cute. I missed this."

"And you know this is only the beginning.  I have big plans for our future, Lo."

I raised my eyebrows and cocked my head to the side. "Oh yeah? Like what?"

"You'll just have to wait and see," he said and kissed me.

I hope you're enjoying the story! I decided these two should finally get back together. It was time. I can't stand to see them unhappy. It may be a little while before the next chapter comes out because I want it to be perfect. There's also going to be a bit of a time jump in the next chapter, so get ready!
