{Joey's POV}

Lauren was still asleep, so I slipped out the front door, ring in my pocket, to Joe's waiting car just down the street.

I got in the car and Joe asked, "Are you ready?"

I responded, "As I'll ever be."

{Lauren's POV}

I woke up and the other side of the bed was empty, but there was a note on Joey's pillow.

Go to the kitchen.

"Um, okay," I said as I got out of bed. I slid on my slippers and walked out of the bedroom and into the kitchen. There was a note on the fridge.

Look inside.

Inside the fridge was a plate of waffles with a note on top.

Eat these and then go to Diane's bed.

"Well this is weird," I mumbled, but I followed the directions and heated up the waffles.

After I finished my waffles and cleaned up the plate, I strolled over to Diane's bed and found yet another note. This one, however, was a little bit longer.

Good morning, Lauren. I have a couple errands to run, so I won't be home until later today. I talked to Jaime and she said she'll take you to lunch so you aren't alone all day. She's picking you up at noon.

I rolled my eyes as I read the note. I am perfectly capable of being alone for the day. Besides, I have Diane to keep me company. But I guess it would be nice to hang out with Jaime. After all, it has been almost a month since we flew back to L.A. and we've both been so busy. If she's picking me up at noon, however, I better get ready quickly. She'll be here in less than an hour.

After I finished getting ready, I heard a honk from outside. That must be Jaime. I said goodbye to Diane and headed out the door.

----------

Over coffee and sandwiches, we discussed the events that had happened since Firebringer ended. Jaime landed an interview for this movie that would be a really big break for her. And she told me about a new guy that she had been seeing, Andrew. They seemed to be really hitting it off.

I told Jaime about how Diane is doing really well and I told her about my talk with Joey about marriage. That seemed to really spark her attention.

"No way!" she practically screamed. "I can't believe you're gonna get married! When do you think Joey's going to propose?"

I looked out the window. "I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if he did it soon, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he waited a little longer. He's always wanted to get married, though, so I'm sure he's already thought about it."

"Well whenever it happens, be sure to tell me right away!" Jaime responded.

We finished eating, and as we were leaving the restaurant, Jaime reached into her bag and pulled out a piece of paper identical to the ones Joey's notes were written on this morning.

Jaime handed it to me and said, "Joey dropped by my apartment this morning and told me to give this to you after lunch. I have no idea what it's about."

I took it and laughed. "He left me a few notes this morning too. But I have no idea why he dropped one off for you to give to me," I replied, my forehead creasing in confusion. I opened the note to find more of Joey's scribbly handwriting.
