5500km away, somewhere in the suburbs of New York, Diana was sitting on her plattform that she had built on an oak tree in her backyard.  Her long brown hair fell behind her as the moon glowed from the silent, night sky.  It was nearly midnight, and her grandmother didn't know she was still awake.  6 years ago, her parents had disappeared on a journey to the North Pole to study the Aurora Borealis, also known as the northern lights.  Ever since, things had began to change.  Diana raised her hand towards the sky as she had always done, and wherever her hand was pointing, the stars would glow intensely.  She kept this a secret, thinking everyone would say she was crazy.  For 7 years of her 13 year old life, she had enjoyed the beauty of the stars and the moon because she knew her parents were up there somewhere.  'Hey Mom, hey Dad,' she whispered.  She missed them so much.  A comet was shooting across the sky.  A shooting star!  This was rare.  'I'll ask a wish,' She closed her eyes and suddenly had an idea.  Diana thought if she should take the risk and pointed her hand at the comet, it shined as usual, it started to shine even brighter the glow became larger.  She realized it was coming towards her!  She closed her eyes because the brightness was blinding her.  Goodbye world and great work Diana, she thought.  Nothing bad had happened, yet, she could feel the warmth of the comet on her left hand  She opened her eyes a tiny bit.  A glowing sphere of blinding light, the comet, was resting on her palm.  'Hmm, I thought comets were made of ice and rock,' she murmured.  But she was sure it was a comet.  If it wasn't, what could it be?  The light reminded her of the moon and she realized the object was very comforting.  She closed her eyes and felt a warmth spread through her body.  The light slowly disappeared.  Where had it gone?  'Well, I think that's enough for one night,' she said to herself.  She grabbed the rope ladder and threw one end down.  When her left hand released the ladder something small shot out of her hand.  Even though it was small, Diana was thrown of her feet due to the force of it.  The thing rocketed towards a tree across the road and went straight through it.  In the dark, Diana could picture a small hole that went straight through the trunk.  The thing was going incredibly fast and it disappeared in the horizon in about 5 seconds.  'Dang it,' Diana grumbled.  She'd take care of it tomorrow, she snuck inside the house and silently closed the door.
