"You looked surprised"

I can't even say a single word. I can't move my hands, I can't react... why?

"I'm... I'm sorry Chloe."

I hugged him, out of nowhere, I hugged him, tight, very tight. I don't want to let go anymore, what if this is just a dream? I don't want to lose him anymore.. please, tell me this is not a dream.. please... stay with me.

"I.."

I don't know what to say.. help me.. Sam? Kylie? John? Help.. I wanna cry..

"Don't leave.."
"I beg you."

I raised my head to look at him. He smiled at me, that was a different smile, I can tell.

"This is not a dream right?"

"Oh.. sorry.. but it is"

"Hahaha just kidding!"
"Hahahaha, man, I love your reactions"

Grrrr, this guy. He never changed did he? Still the same person who bullies me.

I quickly got off him, and pouted

"Why are you so mad now? A while ago you're so happy to see me."

"WHO WOULDN'T GET MAD AT YOU?!"

"Hahaha, I thought you wouldn't?"

"Tsk, you idiot!"
"Is that how you greet someone you haven't met for years?!"

"Look Chloe, I'm just trying to make the atmosphere light"
"It's kinda tense a while ago"

"TENSE MY ASS!"

"So? How do you feel now? Still wanna cry?"

"Shut up! Loser!"

"Oh man, I missed your whiny ass"

I glared at him, hoping that he'll get the idea that I'm pissed off already.

"Alright, alright, I'll stop"

"You really missed each other huh?" John butted in

"Well I don't!"

"Haha, cry baby"

"Could you stop already?"

"Sure, but before that, can you at least smile?"
"I haven't seen your smile for a while."
"You nearly cried a while ago, then now you're so mad."
"I believe you should greet someone with a smile right?"

"Fi- Fine!"

I smiled, though it was kinda fake, since I got mad at him.

"Cool, I'll wait for the real one later!" He said it enthusiastically

How dare him, he didn't talked to me for years and this is how he'll welcome me back?

Well.. what matters is Carl is back.. I've been waiting for him for a long time.

He left with John, they went for a walk for a while. So we girls are the only ones left behind. Finally, I can ask them questions.

"Well.. any explanations?"

"What do you mean Chloe?"

"WHAT DO I MEAN?!"

"Woah woah, take it easy girl." Said by Sam who looks nervous

"I bet you know something Sam?"

Samantha sighed, then she explained afterwards.

"So meaning, he contacted you guys that he'll come home, but he didn't even bother calling me or texted me for that?"

"Well.. Carl said it'll be a surprise for you."

"Yeah, he also said that the two of you haven't talked for years. So he said he's kinda shy texting you out of nowhere."

I see, so that's why. It is true that we haven't talked for years. Last time Carl talked to me was 5 years ago. I wonder why... he never talked to me anymore. He never replied to my messages either. I wonder what's the reason for that, I can't ask him directly about that either, I'm too shy to do that.

"What exactly happened to the two of you?" Asked by Kylie who seems to be very curious
"Did you two quarreled or something?"

"No... we didn't. It's just that.. he never replied to me anymore, he never answers my calls as well. Because of that, I feel like I'm bothering him too much. So I stopped contacting him."

"Do you know the reason for that?"

"No.. not actually."

"Then why won't you ask Carl the reason?" Said by Sam

"Wha- No! I.. I don't want to. To be honest, its.. kinda awkward. I hugged him out of nowhere, even though we haven't talked for years, even though we never saw each other since he left."

"What? How will you know the answer for that? What, do you think Google would help you out?"

"Shut up Sam.. I just can't... I'm shy ok? I was the one who stopped contacting him."

"No you're not, you said he never replied to you, so.. it's him, not you."

"It's my fault as well, I keep on bothering him, after all, he's studying."

"Fine. But either way Chloe, I don't hate Carl for what he did. Pretty sure he have his own reasons."
"Well, you know, just for clarifications, I mean you might think I hate him for ignoring your messages or something."

"Yup, same here!" Said by Sam

I sighed out of relief. I thought they'll hate him for that.

"Oh, we should prepare the foods!" Said by Sam who seems to be very excited

"The what?"

"Foods Chloe, FOODS!"

"Haha, yup, we are having a picnic here, so Sam is so excited."

"Wait what?"

"Carl brought some foods, he said we'll have a picnic."

"Yup, I got excited when I heard that he's back. Then I got even more excited when he said we'll be having a picnic!"

"Sam.. you sound like a kid."

We all laughed, then we started preparing the foods.

But really, I would love to know why he never talked to me anymore. Should... I ask him? I looked around the park, hoping I can find them. There they are, they're coming back already. Looks like Carl missed his boy buddy. The moment they got back, we started eating.

I should ask him. I need to know the reason. Maybe I'll ask him after eating.

"Oh yeah! Chloe, I believe you're going to ask Carl about something?" Said by Kylie, she then looked at me and winked.

What is wrong with her! I'm supposed to ask him privately! Damn it Kylie.

"Hmm? What is it?"

"Uhm, no- nothing."

"Oh? Really? You know if you want to know something, the only way to get the answer is to ask right?"

"Its.. a private matter."

"Oh is this a confession of love?" John butted in

"WHAT?! NO!"

"Haha then ask me already."

"You sure its fine for them to know?"

"Yeah sure."

"Ok then... I want to know.. why.. why haven't you talked to me for years. I mean you did, but you never replied to me anymore, you never answer my calls as well... I'm sorry, you know, if I was bothering you back then."

"Oh, so that's your question"

He smiled at me.
