Chapter 4 - Confessions

"I figured out you'll ask that to me."
"Ok, let's start then."
"I asked your mother how you've been doing for the past months. She said you're having a hard time in your studies, she also said you're always busy. Well, I figured out those are because of me. I decided to cut our conversations. Supposedly, only for a year, but that last message you sent me... I feel bad for what I did. So instead of texting you again at the end of the school year, I end up doing nothing. Years and years come, I decided not to talk to you for a while, not only you, same with Sam and Kylie. John is the only person I contacted, I always asked him how you girls are doing. He's my only source of information. That's the reason why, not because I hate you or something, but things didn't go as what I planned."

I see.. he's concerned for my studies. It's my fault as well huh? Because of the last message I sent to him, he never replied.

-I'm sorry for bothering you. Please, don't reply anymore, this would be my last message to you :)-

Those were the words I told him, probably he felt guilty for not talking to me.

"Look, it's my fault as well, I'm impatient, so I carelessly told that to you."

"It's fine, that was done"

"Oh yeah Carl, why did you cut our conversations as well?" Asked by Sam

"Well.. that, is a different matter."

"Oh? You're not gonna tell them?" Said by John

"Uh, no?"

"NO! Tell me! I'm curious as well!" Said by Kylie

"Fine"
"I have.. a girlfriend. That's why. I don't want her to get the wrong idea. So I figured out that I have to stop talking to you guys."

"YOU HAVE A WHAT?!" Said by both Kylie and Sam in a synchronized manner

"Wait wait, you have a girlfriend?!" I asked when I realized what he just said

"Haha. Surprise?"
"It's not a big deal you know?"

"It is! I'm surprised you have one!"
"I mean congratulations!"

"Haha thanks Sam."

"Are you two still together up to now?" I asked

"Yeah, you jealous Chloe?"

"WHAT?! No I'm not! Idiot!"
"Of course I'm just wondering! How dare you!"

"Hahaha you're saying that while your face is red."

What?! No! No! I'm not jealous or anything. I don't have any feelings for Carl!! This wrong, why is my face red?!

"Hey I already like someone ok?!" I said

"Oh? Is it true? You're in love huh?"

"Grr shut up! Stop teasing me! You jerk!"

"Haha, I can introduce you Carl to the guy Chloe likes!" said by Sam

"Me too!" Said by Kylie

"Oh please, do the honors Samantha." Carl said

"SHUT UP!! DON'T EVEN TRY SAM!"

"Haha I'm just joking you know?"

I'm relieved that Carl said the reason. At least this time, I know that he did it out of concern. 

"Oh yeah, where are you going to study Carl?" Said by Kylie whose mouth is still full.

"Hey! Don't speak when your mouth is full!" Said by John

"Wow, what a couple" said by Sam

"Haha, I'm surprised Kylie said yes to you John."

"What can I say Carl? I'm the best! Haha"

"Hmph, I only said yes to John because.. well.. he's a good guy, and he always look after me that's why."

"Well, you like me anyways."

"Hey, Carl haven't answered my question yet!"

"Oh yeah I forgot!"
"I'm studying in the near university."

I got surprised by his answer
"You mean the school I go to?!"

"I don't know what school you're going to."

"St. Gabriel University?"

"Oh! Yup! There!"

"REALLY?!" We all said in a surprised manner

"Woah, yeah. You guys go there too?"

"Of course yes."

"Nice"

Nice? The hell was that reply?

Few minutes have passed, and we all finished eating. We had fun talking to each other. It just feels good that we are all complete.

Wait a second.. so that's why.

John was somehow disappointed a while ago, when Kylie said we are having a reunion. Maybe John was bothered that none of us remembered Carl. I looked at John, he looks so happy that we are complete. Finally, a real definition of complete. We all went home afterwards, we parted our ways. Though me and Carl walks in the same road to get home, so we went home together. I'm walking with him, it's been long since we did this, as far as I remember, we were still kids back then when we do this. My house is nearer than his, so basically, he'll still walk for a few minutes to get home. Few minutes passed and we got to my house.

"Hey. Carl, maybe this time you'll message me"

"Haha sure, I will. I'll talk to you later."

"Keep safe!"

I smiled at him, he smiled back. He's a different person now, and he changed a lot, in terms of his appearance though, but his personality, I hope he didn't. He then left after a minute. I went inside the house, and to my surprise, mom was waiting for me, looks like she saw Carl already.

"Uhm, hey mom"

"So you heard the news huh?"

"Wait, so you know he's coming home?"

"Yup, his parents told me they're coming back."
"Then he asked me to keep it a secret"

"Oh, that's why."

"Did you miss him?"

"Of course, I do. I'm happy he's back"

I went back to my room, I looked at the clock, 4:02. Yes! I still have time to take a nap. I laid down to take a rest, but before I can even close my eyes-

Ding!

A message, really, when will I get a rest?
I looked at my phone to see who messaged me. Carl, you idiot.

-Just got home!-

I replied to him

-Ok, then don't disturb me, I need to take a nap-

-Ok sleepy head, sweet dreams-

Finally, a rest, at least this time I can close my eyes and fall asleep.

I finally woke up, and its..

"Did I just overslept?"

I looked at the time. 5:38 A.M

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"
