And here I am yet again being late with an update. Darn it. Hopefully I can make it up to you all somehow...
______________________________________Before Paradox or Wolvernian could say anything, the sound of a large explosion was heard and the entire house shook under the aftermath of it. Wolvernian's eyes widened in shock and worry and Paradox glitched. Yes, he flickered as if he were a hologram of some sort. Every now and then, it was normal for parts of Paradox to glitch but for him to entirely flicker in such a way was completely new.
"This isn't good. The timeline is becoming unstable. Someone just disrupted the stability of this era," Paradox said. He opened a portal to leave but Wolvernian spoke up to stop him. "Where are you going? You can't possibly be thinking about leaving now. Lu and Ciel are out the fighting whatever just caused that," he said. Paradox looked back at the medic with his usual menacing glare that usually only adult Paradox would be able to pull off.
"Even if I wanted to leave now, I can't. I just told you the era was just thrown of balance. If I tried time traveling now, I could risk being crushed by spontaneously generating time voids. I wouldn't necessarily die but Add would. I'm going to find out who just did this. Another time traveller is here and I hope it isn't me from the future because if it is, we might all perish here in this timeline," Paradox said. With that, he disappeared through his portal leaving Add with several bad thoughts in mind.
How did Paradox know there was another time traveler and why would it be bad if it was himself? Wouldn't a Paradox from the future come back in time to warn them? Those questions crossed Add's mind the moment Paradox had spoken such odd words but Add found no answer to them. "That guy...I just don't understand him sometimes," Wolvernian muttered in fustration. The medic didn't know just how much Add agreed with him but he couldn't focus on that.
He was more worried about how to fix his condition before it got worse without having to wait for Paradox to return. Add looked at him and got an idea that was better than the many risky plans he had in mind. "Verni, you said you handle medical things right? I think I need your help," Add said. Wolvernian looked at him and gave an immediate answer. "No. I'm not doing it. Whatever it is, no. I've lost a patient before that same way and I won't be making that mistake again," Wolvernian said before walking away from the door.
"Wait! You don't even know what I was going to do! I really do need your help!" Add called. He flushed with embarrassment immediately afterwards for he usually didn't ask for help even when he needed it. In fact, he felt rather helpless at the moment and would do anything to feel like he had meaning and capability again. "Your dynamos. You don't have to know where they are to call them to you," he thought. The thought was a rather dumb one since he knew his dynamos were a partial cause to his health issues.
As if warning him to discard the thought, he suddenly felt a little lightheaded. Perhaps he was just having a bad side effect from his current condition or maybe it really was a warning sign. Instead of worrying about it, he decided to listen to his thought and bring his dynamos to himself from wherever they were at the moment. For a moment, nothing happened as he focused but soon the sound of glass breaking followed by the appearance of two of his dynamos let Add know that it was working.
"Add!" Wolvernian called. The rest of his dynamos arrived not long afterwards and began to circle around him. Wolvernian appeared at the door frame not long afterwards. "What do you think you're doing?" he asked with a slight hint of aggravation in his voice. He didn't seem to upset about whatever Add had broken but he was certainly upset about Add continuing to do things related to his problem. Wolvernian seemed to take his job seriously and that would make things harder for Add to do.
"I'm going to try curing myself by slowly raising my own tolerance to my natural magic ability. I was able to access it back when I was somewhere else so I'm sure it's not impossible for me to do," Add answered. He didn't want to tell him about how he'd accessed a lot of his power by accident while he was in Hamel. Wolvernian deadpaned at him. "Are you insane like Paradox is? You'd kill yourself. There's no way you could manage your own vitals and keep yourself from passing out again. You're asking to die after I just saved you," he growled.
Add sighed for he knew this already which brought him back to the initial step in his plan. "That's why I needed your help. You're some kind of doctor so you'd be able to keep me stabalized right? I wouldn't go into shock again with you around so there should be a problem," Add said making sure to avoid Wolvernian's gaze. He still wasn't too keen on asking for Wolvernian's help but he didn't want to kill himself.
"You say that like my job is so easy. Patients like you are the worst kind. Always thinking they know what's best for themselves. You aren't going to take no for an answer, I can tell. Don't get any more ideas. I'm only doing this because I don't know how to stop you and I don't want you to die. Paradox would cry again and that's got to be the most annoying thing in the world," Verni complained although he agreed to help.
Add couldn't help but feel a little awkward knowing that Paradox actually had cared enough to cry. It was likely just child Paradox that had done so but as Paradox was now, Add couldn't tell if he was even fully child Paradox. He looked very much like his younger self but he acted like his older self. It was much like Paradox was when they'd first met him but just a little toned down. "Add, stop spacing out. I hope you aren't thinking of more ideas to make things worse than they already are for me," Wolvernian said before sighing. He seemed genuinely stressed which was something Add could understand.
"No, I was thinking about something else. We can go ahead and start. I'll be counting on you," Add said. It felt weird saying such words to someone he hardly knew and he also couldn't remember the last time he'd said that to anyone other than maybe Ara. Perhaps he'd said something similar to Paradox but he couldn't be sure. "Don't mention it kid. I'm only doing this for my own convenience so don't go getting any ideas," Wolvernian muttered.
He seemed far less nonchalant than when they'd first met so that was perhaps a good thing. He was showing his true side. Before Add could say or do anything else, another quake went throughout Lanox. Things must have been rather serious outside but there was nothing Add could do in his current state. He had to stabalize himself first before he did anything risky. Only then could he start planning for whatever was going on outside.
"I don't like that look on your face. You're highly mistaken if you think I'm going to let you leave this place after you get done with whatever you plan on doing to yourself," Wolvernian said with a slight frown. Add knew this already but he hadn't planned that far ahead yet. "I won't. You don't have to worry about that just yet," Add said without thinking. Luckily, Wolvernian said nothing about the latter part of his statement or he simply didn't care anymore.
Add pulled up his own holographic screens to see just exactly how much of his own natural magic level he could handle. Wolvernian must have been used to Paradox doing the same since he didn't ask why Add was scrolling across the air. From his perspective, the screens wouldn't be visable but he must have known something was there. "You better know what you're doing," Wolvernian said. For his own sake, Add also hoped he knew what he was doing.
