I went to visit my mother after school but her restaurant was vandalized. Me and Alice stood there in shock as we looked around us. I saw paint on the window i saw the words “Judisches Essen” that mean Jewish food. I stared at the sign as Alice stared at me when she came to the realization I was jewish. My dad got called to go to Poland for work, but he gave us big hugs and kisses. As the days went by i didn't get to see Alice that much anymore. After a few days they made a rule saying we couldn’t go out after 6pm. I ended up not going to school for a day or two. Today is Yom Kippur a jewish holiday and for some reason Alice’s mom prohibited her from coming over today. Yom Kippur lasted two days unlike normal holidays. Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement and is considered the most important holiday in the Jewish faith. Falling in the month of Tishrei (September or October in the Gregorian calendar), it marks the culmination of the 10 Days of Awe, a period of introspection and repentance that follows Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. I went to school after it to heard all about how that the germans are a “Superior Race” and how us jews are “pure rubbish”. All i was thinking about is if Alice thought the same way about me since she finally knew i was a jew. I really hoped she didn’t because she seemed so nice and accepting of me being Jewish even after she found out. I tried to walk with Alice but I didn’t because i didn’t want her to get into trouble. I was getting trash thrown at me everywhere i went. I kept getting called a rat and worthless that I started to cry and ran home. My mom tired to ask me what was wrong while helping my brother with his homework but I refused to talk and went to my room. I miss my dad and i hope he is safe in Poland. I don’t know what I’d do without him or any of my family even if they annoy me.
