I could no longer see the sun as it got cover by big dark gray clouds. The wind outside was freezing and I got goosebumps all over my body as well as the other prisoners did. The next thing i know is we went into the dining hall to get our blocks and cells situated. I was put in Block 4 cell 1, I was really close to the nurse if anything happened to me i could just run there. As i walked past the the doctors I swear i saw Alice again and she was with this weird german guy. I wanted to run in there and claim i felt sick but i knew it was for the better if i didn’t and just followed my fellow jews. This cell was different than the last one they had more beds and actual bathrooms kinda. I felt a bit more safer in here but i knew it wouldn’t stay that way for long. I could already hear screaming coming from the outside as we all get out clothing on to get ready to go to work. I worked in the kitchen washing the dishes or outside in the cold digging holes for the springtime. I hated being out there it was freezing. I could see a figure walking towards me slowly. The girl almost fell and i had to catch her. Her body felt like ice, her tears were freezing as they came down her face, and she couldn’t talk. I had to help her walk to the doctors to try and have them warm her up as i made eye contact with the girl i thought was Alice. When i saw her blue eyes, soft pale skin, long flowing blond hair i knew that girl. She looked at me and saw the horror and lost hope in my eyes. I hurried up and looked away to avoid eye as i told her “Miss you need to help this poor girl and is almost freezing to death and she really needs your help i beg of you”. I could tell Alice wsa trying her best not to cry as i handed the poor girl off. I gave them both one last look before i ran back to my cell to process what had just happened. As a few hours past dinner time came. I saw my mother and brother eating at their own table. I wish I knew what day it was because jesus's birthday is in the winter and i really would like to wish him a happy birthday. I went to go check on the girl i dropped of at the nurse to make sure she was okay. The girl was laying down on the bed when Alice walked in and asked me something. “By any chance do I know you’’ Alice asked with a questioning tone. I knew she would remember me. I felt joy for the first time in a while. A Smile grew across my face as i answered “I think you might Alice….We used to be very close till..well till this all happened”. She looked at me closer then she did before she gave me a big hug and said “ Oh I Knew you didn’t die Sofia. I knew you were still alive even after everything you would have gone through”. I looked at her as i pushed her away to avoid me and her both getting killed “ Yes, Alice and so are my mother and my brother but please don’t hug me. You’re german and they won’t accept it and could possibly kill us both” I said in a sad tone. As i walked to my cell that night, i knew that i would sleep well knowing that my best friend was safe. and she planned on helping me and many others find a safe way out.
