The car was silent during the ride home. The tension high as Mrs Grint drove, hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. Chris was staring out the window, daydreaming. And Alice, Alice was sitting in a ball in her seat. Her head in her arms which were resting on her knees. The thoughts and the guilt flooding her mind as she clutched her arms crossed tighter. She knew what was waiting for her, and she was dreading it. But then Chris decided to break the silence.
" Are you going to work tonight ,Mom?" He asked, looking over to her. She sighed but kept her focus on the road.
"Sadly, yes," she sighed," but I wish I didn't have to.." Chris looked at her sadly, and then to Alice whom looked back at him. His eyes full of terror. Alice looked at him, and grinned while she mouthed to him ' I'll protect you, promise.' Chris gave a weak smile, and looked back out the window. And with that Alice looked over to the window, and looked grimly out at the fields, thinking of the promise that she had just made. A promise that she was willing to keep.•Alice's point of view• ~15 minutes later~
Once the car parked in the driveway, my eyes swept quickly ,searching, for another car. I was dreading this, but now that thing..that..monster...I was scared of..it was here..it is here..it is my reality, it is my father. I turned to Chris, he was looking at the door, shaking. So I sighed and opened my door. Then I walked over to Chris and took his hand.
" It's gonna be ok," I whispered, and led him to the door where mother was waiting. She held the door open for us as we walked in. My grip on Chris's hand tightened. His was shaking. We walked into the house, it was surprisingly dark with the time. The stairs were right in front of the door and next to it was the hallway leading to the living room. We walked down the hallway next to the stairs slowly. The hall was like paper, blank. No pictures of us when we were younger, those were in mothers closet. Once we entered the living room I got a strong scent of Alcohol. It made me gag, mother just sighed.
" Noah, could you talk to Alice, she attacked another student today," mother said sadly. Once she did we heard someone moving on the couch. "I have to leave for work so can you talk to them about what happened?" Then we heard a quiet snicker of the monster.
" Of course, I'll make sure they understand," growled a voice. And then rose up the monster. He was wearing a white t-shirt with stains. He also wore ripped jeans which also had multiple stains. His eyes cloudy and face pure evil. I noticed that he had just shaved. My grip on Chris's hand tightened more.
"Thank You honey! I'll be on my way, I love you!" Mother called, father replied with a smile and wave, not even going to try to lie. Then we heard the sound of the door close and car start. We didn't move until we heard the Go from the car moving. And with that Father looked to us, smirking.
"You are in huge trouble," he smirked, moving closer. Closer, with a bottle in hand. And with that I ran upstairs with Chris and locked him in his room on the left. But on my way to my room, something grabbed my hair pulling me back. I struggled to escape, but he was too strong. Then he dragged me down the stairs, I was screaming at him to let me go but he didn't listen. Then he threw me to the ground and threw a glass beer bottle at me, it hit my face and I felt the multiple pieces of glass piercing my skin. I screamed, warm blood ran down my face. Along with salty tears.
"PLEASE STOP!!" I screamed at him, pure terror in my voice. Again he didn't care, and he grabbed me by my hair again and dragged me to the kitchen. I was still screaming, and was trying to get him off of me. Then, still holding onto my hair, slammed my head into the table. I screamed, my head felt as if it was being split open. There was blood staining the table. He did it again, and I screamed, hoping and praying someone would hear. I knew I had to escape fast. My vision was blurring and the pain was becoming unbearable. So I decided to act. With a swift motion, I kicked him where it hurts and he keeled over, releasing me. I ran as fast as I could to the steps, dodging a swing of a arm from the 'monster'. I skipped multiple steps and ran to my room, locking and barricading the door shut. My head ached, and blood trickled down my chin from multiple injuries. I then collapsed to my knees crying. Not just from the physical pain, but from the historical scarring that was tearing me apart. He is a ghost of whom he once was. I then crawled over to the mirror once I got back into my right state of mind. I picked up the tweezers I keep on my bed stand for this. Mom always questioned why, but I didn't want her to end up like Joe. So I kept my tongue. Plucking the pieces of glass from my skin was painful. After just a few dozen I was already in tears. And so were the angels uselessly who watched me suffer. As the tears streamed down my face, I hummed multiple of my favorite songs. After around five minutes of bloodied glass picking, Simone knocked. I waited for a minute or so waiting. I knew who was there from their knocks. Then multiple knocks playing the tune 'We Wish you a merry Christmas' . I giggled, shakily got up and opened the door. Chris then gave me the biggest hugs, and he was crying.
" Are you ok?!" he sobbed, " what happened. And so I explained to him what happened while he helped me bandage my face. Both of us were sobbing and hugging each other. We were happy, ish..I wish that we can stay like this forever. Forever Happy. No abusive father or overprotective mother just Me and my Brother. Yet soon... that would all change..
