"Dopey" a voice called out to a man in dark blue scrubs. "Dopey?" The voice called out again, this time more direct. "Shane, are you paying attention?"
"Yes, of course I am paying attention, Doctor Yang. Although. . . really? That nickname again? I thought we had gotten past that." said Shane Ross, as he snapped out of a zone-out, and continued with a small groan. Cristina's prized pupil, who came with her from Seattle Grace, answered as he finished writing down his check list on a yellow pocket sized notepad.
The raven-haired woman let out a small laugh, picking up a small bag and her jacket. "Remember, the hospital is your priority while I'm gone. You're an attending now. Soon enough you'll be in consideration for a position like my own." Cristina turned away from Shane, with a small smirk, shown out of pride. "After all, you were the one who decided to stay here instead of going back with me to see your little girlfriend, Mousey." The wide-eyed woman turned back to Shane.
"Heather isn't my girlfriend." Shane blushed. "I just asked for you to say hi to her for me, that doesn't mean anything else. I just want to know if she's even close to the same level of ass-kicking with Dr. Shepherd in neuro as I am here with you."
"Oh, please. Stop kidding yourself. You don't want to come to Seattle with me just because you're scared of not coming back. God knows you'd miss it too much." Cristina teased her student. "I for one, am kind of excited..." she paused at her glass window. "I guess this is goodbye." she mumbled vaguely.
"What do you mean? Doctor Yang, you're coming back right?" Shane asked with a confused look on his face.
Cristina hesitated to answer. "Come on Shane, Klausman Institute is my entire life..." the words coming out of her mouth seemed sincere enough. "I wouldn't not come back."
After boarding her plane, thirteen hours later, Cristina arrived at the Seattle-Tacoma International airport. She hopped into a cab, watching out through the window, taking in the sight of the familiar city Seattle, Washington. After arriving at her destination, she walked up a few steps with her luggage in hand, she knocked on the door lightly.
"Cristina? Oh my god, it's you."
"Mer!" Cristina smiled as the two hugged.
"Cristina, what are you doing here?" Meredith asked as she pulled away from the hug.
"Well, it's been almost three years since I left. I think it's fair to come back to the place where I grew into this amazing and talented, and very exceptional surgeon I am today." Cristina teased her. "Anyways... it's really hot and I'm wearing a leather jacket, so you wanna let me in, or do I have to invite myself in?" She joked.
"Oh, yeah, come in. I guess the temperature is colder in Zurich? But let's not talk about the temperature... What are you doing here, why didn't you tell me you were coming?" Meredith questioned her with a soft smile.
"Well.. I wanted to surprise everyone. Oh by the way, I didn't stop you from going into your shift, did I?" she asked.
"No, I don't go in for another hour." Meredith responded.
