It felt different this time... The pasty yellow gravel crunched under your shoes as you slowly pondered into the centre of the battle ground. You hadn't acknowledged the vigorous cheers throughout the stadium in the previous matches but the nerves swarming in your lungs had seemingly heightened your senses, like your brain was searching for more things to make you nervous, but your expression remained unbothered.

Well... that was until determined blue and grey eyes snapped into lock with yours as you approached each other. Todoroki's face was serious, nerve-wracking and his intense glare sent shivers across your skin.

You gave an awkward lop sided smile but he didn't return it, his eyes usually soft and gentle towards you. Right now, his stare gave the impression that he didn't want anything to do with you, his plan to finish the match effortlessly.

Secretly, he was shitting himself...

He knew you'd be an extremely difficult opponent, not just for him but anyone. And to add to that, these unknown feelings swarming him when you were around made him nervous, like he wouldn't perform to his best ability during a battle if you were involved. He knew the match up would be an issue, but his only solution would to be to pretend like you didn't matter... that he wanted you to lose.

"TODOROKI SHOTO FROM CLASS 1-A HAS BEEN SEEMINGLY UNBREAKABLE BUT HOW WILL HE DO AGAINST THE SECRET POWERHOUSE THAT IS Y/N L/N, ALSO FROM CLASS 1-A!" Present Mic bellowed across the entire arena with his upbeat voice. "GOOD LUCK STUDENTS! START!"

You'd barely been given a chance to react before Todoroki pummelled his foot to the ground and sent a channel of powerful ice bolting in your direction.

You raised your hands as quickly as you could, the swift movement creating a telekinetic barrier in front of you just in time, the ice stopped and shattered at the glowing red energy, but the force of it against the barrier still sent you crashing to the floor, fumbling backwards and landing harshly on your stomach.

You raised from the ground, slight wheeze escaping your lungs from where your ribs had been forced to the gravel. You glared at Todoroki with glowing eyes as he prepared another attack, another wave of ice, equal in size and force which once again knocked you to the ground after creating a energy barrier to protect yourself from the frozen infection.

This repeated a few more times, each time you were knocked to the ground, it took more effort to shakily get back up, your limbs trembling from fatigue already.

This time when you stumbled to your feet you noticed the distance between you and Todoroki getting further... and the distance between you and the boundary line getting closer.

Clever bastard...

He'd been knocking you back with layer after layer of ice to contain you into a corner in an attempt to forcefully manipulate you out of bounds.
