Military Love

Chapter 9

Maddie's POV

"You're pregnant?" Dalton asks completely shocked he has to lean against the fridge. "Yeah, that's not how I wanted you to find out, I was going to do something cute to tell you," I say getting up and moving towards him. 

"When did you find out?" Dalton asks wrapping his arms around me. "When we got back from the store yesterday." 

"Why didn't you tell me right then? When were you going to tell me, Maddie? When I left?" Dalton says obviously kind of upset. "I wanted to do something cute to tell you, I was going to tell you tomorrow when I got back from my boards because I was gonna stop at the store and get a pacifier or bottle or something. I'm sorry I just wanted to make it special, I didn't mean to upset you." 

"I know, I'm sorry I didn't mean to yell and get upset, I'm just stressed out and I've been taking it out on you and I'm sorry. I love you, Madelyn." He says giving me a kiss. "I'm not ready to do this without you, how long are you going to be gone?" I ask going to sit down on the couch. 

"You aren't going to do it without me, babe, I'm only going to be gone for 2-4 months. 9

" Dalton says picking me up and putting me on his lap. "That's a long time Dalton, what if something happens when you're gone, I was worried about being alone while you were gone before but now I have a baby to worry about and eating healthier and making sure to get enough sleep and that's basically impossible being a nurse and I'm scared Dalton, I'm so scared." 

"Maddie, you aren't going to be alone, if something major happens I promise I will come home right away. You have your parents and brothers and my parents. I promise I will come home. If it makes you feel better I'll leave Bella here with you instead of taking her with." Dalton says hugging me and kissing my forehead. 

"I didn't know you were planning on taking Bella?" I say kind of questioning him. "I usually do, but I can tell them that she can't come with that way she can be here with you at the house so you aren't alone at night."  All I say is, "okay."

"Madelyn?" Dalton asks. I look at him and he says, "I love you." "I love you too." I say giving him a kiss. "So since you didn't get to do anything cute to tell me how about we do something for our parents?" Dalton says 

"We could go to the store and get pacifiers and bottles and maybe a onesie?" I say wrapping my arms around "Okay, well let's go then, and then we can bring them over tonight." Dalton says. I get up and go put some leggings on. 

After we are both dressed we head to the store to pick up a few things for the surprise boxes. While at the store we find onesie's that say, "Grandma and Grandpa spoil me" we decided to get two of those along with two pacifiers and bottles. We also found some cute decorative boxes to put the pacifiers, bottles, and onesies in.  

Once we get home from the store we put everything into the boxes and wrap them. "Where do you want to go first?" Dalton asks putting his shoes back on. "We can go to your parents first and then mine because my parents just keep talking." I say grabbing the boxes and walking towards the door. 

When we get to Dalton's parents I start to get really nervous. "What if they get mad because we are so young and not married yet or because you're leaving so soon?" I say to Dalton not wanting to get out of the truck. "Babe, I promise it'll be okay, they love you, they love us and they'll be so excited to find out there having a grandchild," Dalton says opening my door and helping me out of the truck since it's so high up. 

We knock on the door and then walk-in taking our shoes off on the rug. "Mom, Dad!?" Dalton calls as we walk towards the living room. "In here sweetie." His mom says as we reach the living room and see them sitting watching tv. Both his mom and dad get up and come hug us. "It's so nice to see you guys, what do we owe this pleasure to?" His mom says going back to sit down.  

"Well, we have a couple of things to tell you." Dalton says sitting down on the couch. I follow and sit down next to him. His parents just sit there waiting for us to say more. "I got a call this morning and I have to leave Wednesday now instead of next Monday, but it will only be for 2-4 months." Dalton says. 

"That's not bad then, I mean you leave earlier but you get to come home sooner." His dad says. "Okay, we have something for the two of you to open." I say getting up and handing it to them. They start unwrapping and then open the box. His mom instantly knows but his dad is a little confused. "You guys are having a baby?!" His mom practically yells. We just nod and they both get up and hug us and tell us congratulations

"When did you guys find out?" They ask. "Well Maddie found out yesterday, I found out this morning, she was going to surprise me but I kind of ruined it." Dalton says putting his arm around me. 

We talk to them for a little bit longer before heading to my parent's house.
