Military Love

Chapter 10

Maddie's POV

When we arrive at my parents I don't see Ajay which I think is actually okay, I want to tell him separately; alone. We all go sit down in the living room and my mom gets us all something to drink, she offers me wine but I tell her water instead. 

"What's going on?" My dad asks taking a drink of his beer. "Well we just came over to tell you that Dalton got a call this morning and he actually has to leave Wednesday instead of next Monday, but he won't be gone for as long now, only 2-4 months." I say curling up next to Dalton on the couch. 

"Well, I think that even having to leave a couple days earlier it will be better in the long run because you'll be back sooner." My mom says to Dalton. "We brought you something too." I say handing my parents the box. 

My parents unwrap the box and start to open it when Ajay walks in. He doesn't say anything and just sit's down on the loveseat. My parents open the box and my mom instantly yells, "you're pregnant?!" I just nod with a smile on my face

Ajay just gets up and walks away. I decide I should probably go talk to him. "I'm gonna talk to Ajay, I'll be back." I say getting up and go to Ajay's room. 

"Ajay, can we talk please?" I say walking into his room and sitting down on his bed next to him. "Maddie, don't you think this is kind of soon?" Ajay asks. "We didn't really plan it, Ajay, I love him though and he loves me and that's all that matters." 

"You're my baby sister, I guess I'm just not ready for you to have a baby. I know you and Dalton will be great parents though because you guys are great together." Ajay says. "Should we go back downstairs?" I ask standing up. 

When we get downstairs and we all start talking. My parents make us supper. Before we leave my parents give us hugs and wish Dalton good luck on his deployment and me on my boards. 

When we get home I immediately go upstairs and put on one of Dalton's shirts on and a pair of shorts. Dalton comes upstairs undresses and puts his shorts on. He crawls into bed with me and wraps his arms around me and starts rubbing my stomach. 

"I love you, Madelyn" Dalton says rolling me towards him. "I love you too Dalton." I say. He pulls me in closer to him. "I'm scared." I say "What're you scared about?" Dalton asks gently lifting my face up to his. 

"I'm scared that something is going to happen when you're gone, I'm scared that you'll be gone a lot when the baby is growing up. I'm scared you aren't going to come home. I'm scared I'm not going to be a good mom." 

"Babe, I already told you, if something happens I will come back right away, I will find a way to be home to watch our baby grow up and be with you. I'm always going to come home to you. You're going to be a great mom, WE are going to be great parents." Dalton says 

After that, we just lay in bed in each other's arms and drift to sleep.
